There is a distinct irony to people who have traditionally had no problem cutting off their children for their "lifestyle choices" for decades being upset when the children they would use such cutting off as a power play to manipulate have it turned around and are cut off to end the abuse

It is undeniable and factually true that transition today is easier, more accessible, and more acknowledged and understood than it's ever been. That's what conservatives are reacting to, what's driving them absolutely mad. The "foundation" of sex as "fixed" and "immutable" crumbling in real time.
I think it's easy for especially us younger trans people (using "younger" in the sense of "under 40" here) to forget that what's going on is not "going backwards" so much as a reactionary backlash to things moving forwards at astonishing speed
