For no sound reason. I like (but don't repost) NSFW stuff, so if that bothers you, maybe don't follow?

Seconding this as a deaf person** who also masks. Yes, I rely on lip-reading, but there are ways that I can make it work. And there are masks that enable lip-reading. **D/deaf people were used as a convenient excuse to say that masking is "ableist" 😑

Also, I never will accept that wearing a mask was impeding anyone’s ’freedom’. I still mask, esp at work when I’m around hundreds of co-eds (who are always sick). I lecture for hours in a mask. I still live my damn life.

Fun fact about porn artists, we talk like welders when no one’s watching. “S’quality lining there. What is that, 10 point?” “12 point felt at 600, ‘bout 10 stability.” “PS or CSP?” “CSP.” “Mm.” “Myup.”

When pressed on how to keep schools open, Nate Silver suggested hazard pay but couldn't seem to figure out what happens when you run out of people who are willing to get sick and possibly die at work. So much punditry really boils down to a guy going "oh no not like that."

This is what I mean when I talk about the Fantasy of the Optional Pandemic, where the virus was erased from the equation and mitigation measures were always portrayed as an avoidable choice. Headlines about what actually happened are never even acknowledged.

A dangerous wind shift (visible on radar imagery) has just occurred in #Spokane, WA, where major wildfire disaster is currently unfolding. Three separate major fires (circled) near or within city limits have already caused major structure loss & chaotic, expanding evacs. #WAwx

As we recall the trauma caused by COVID in 2020, we should not forget COVID continues to harm. Many still suffer from Long COVID, people who mask are often harassed, and we haven’t scaled clean air infrastructure. If we truly acknowledge past harms, we should be working to create a better future.

MEASUREHEAD - LOOK AROUND YOU. LOOK AT THE ADVANCEMENTS IN THE SEXUAL SCIENCES -- ALL THE NOVEL TECHNIQUES, ACCESSORIES, PRESERVATIVES, MASSAGE OILS, LUBRICATION SALVES, ABORTION CLINICS.. ELECTROCHEMISTRY - Sounds *fun* -- it's high time you incorporated some of these things into your daily life

One thing buried under the concrete grief of losing people is the less tangible trauma of learning how many people would happily feed you to it if it meant they didn’t have to cover their face for ten min in a 7-11 or skip a few buffets. I feel like we’re also grieving the country we thought we knew

I think this is true, and I also find it interesting that it's mostly Republicans grappling with COVID (as opposed to ignoring it), just from the the perspective that we did it all wrong and more people should have died.

Watching Republicans re-litigate the COVID response, it remains clear to me that one reason they view the pandemic response as a failure is that too many of the people that they wanted to die are still alive.

I still believe a lot of people read about post-black plague Europe and decided its economic acceleration was due to killing off a big chunk of surplus population. We see echos of it today when the right talks about a post-deportation economy.
