And #litsky literature people: is there a subfield within lit that works on how stories are processed, or is that more in psych/neuro? Not at the language level, but semantics of story-telling.

Happy birthday to me! I spent the day face painting a few hundred kids at the elementary school carnival. 8yo says I’m officially middle-aged today. So far, I don’t hate it!

Guys, I genuinely enjoyed the elementary school spring concert, but perhaps especially the fact that the fifth graders were allowed to make their own set list.
Peggy keeps retiring at my college, so they try to replace her with AI, and the cascade failures are still ongoing. Utter chaos.

I don’t believe in love languages, but if I did, mine would be when someone copied on an email I wrote backchannels to tell me that I wrote a perfect email (to the primary recipient).
I don’t think Dave Alff is on here, but I need everyone to know that he wrote the phrase “ever ongoingly gerundial” (about the word “jolting”), and it made me grateful I agreed to review an edited collection. Never let anyone tell you these tasks are thankless!
