Hi, I’m Case! 👋 I’m a sound designer who loves crafting sounds from scratch. Recording, tweaking, experimenting and getting my hands dirty. No dang AI generation here! While the digital world gets more “tokens this” and “credits that”, I’m happy keeping things old-school. 💜

"Hang on, while Windows reports the problem to Microsoft..." Brother the problem is me. I am the problem. I made an infinite loop without a depth guard. Micorosft doesn't want to know about this I promise you.

After speeding up the Unreal Editor launch by not by not spawning 38000 tooltips and not opening 5500 files let's get ready for the conclusion of my trilogy: Speeding up the Unreal Editor launch by not loading 1585 files (source code included) larstofus.com/2026/08/16/s... #gamedev #ue5

Speeding up the Unreal Editor launch (again) by not loading 1585 files

After writing one article on how to speed up Unreal’s editor launch by not spawning 38000 tooltips and one on how to speed it up further by not opening 5500 files and getting the described fi…

Proud of this particle effect created for GMTK 2026! I'll throw the sprite sheet in the replies. I wish I knew how to make the particles appear on a ring, without some of the particles crossing over the center. Had to compensate by starting the particles at scale=0. #godot #krita #gmtk

Well, it finally happened! After 9 years of Unity dominance, Godot was the most used game engine for GMTK Game Jam 2026 submissions. 🤖 Godot - 47% 🎮 Unity - 34% 🛠️GameMaker - 5% 🚀 Unreal Engine - 3% ✨ Other - 11%

Pie chart showing game engines used to create 10,511 GMTK Game Jam games in 2026. Godot has the largest slice with 47%. Then Unity with 34%. Other with 11%. Game Maker with 5%. And Unreal Engine with 3%.

My prediction for GMTK (them: Count down) was going to be lots of rockets and bombs. But so far ... it's not paning out that way? This year I feel like the most common interpretation of the theme is "kinda ignored the theme". Huh.

Anyone participating in GMTK 2026? I'm finding the theme a real drag. For me, the "countdown" is the moment BEFORE the action. Struggling to build a game within that framing.

A hater's 🧵 to counter "AI is improving" boosters - Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) is the ONLY major innovation in LLMs since their 2022 debut. Aside from that, all iterative improvements have been smaller: - "Thinking" loops - Larger context window - Orchestration - Retraining

Whatever players do with digital games, we need to cross a line at STREAMING games from a server. This is the next step and would give TOTAL CONTROL of our games ownership to companies. 💾

Winners for the coolmathgames jam have been announced. I didn't win (the actual winners were well deserved -no shade!) The jam was a bit of a let-down though. The jury didn't leave any feedback, and the game got in total ~30 browser plays? A far cry from e.g., Ludum Dare.

@kenney.nl are these your animal icons being used in this Captcha? Or just very similar? I failed the captcha a few times to get different variations, and the assets appear to have been modified (with AI?)
