Many of our amazing community chose to move their 2025 registration to 2026 when we cancelled due to a hotel strike, so we're opening reg with less space than usual. We lost Liza Palmer yesterday to cancer. She was an absolutely brilliant writer. She was smart and casually insightful. You should pick up Family Reservations, or any of her books, really. But I also have this video of her talking about the book. It's the closest I can come to letting you meet her

As 2025 ends, we're reflecting on the amazing generosity and support we’ve received this year. It was a difficult year at SiWC HQ, but every dollar, every share, and every act of kindness reminded us of the strength of this incredible community.
They're always looking for the secret handshake, no matter how many times people tell them it doesn't exist, and they have to actually do the work to (hopefully, no guarantees) get the results.

Buckell@tobiasbuckell.bsky.social · 7mo agoTalking to one of these types at a con who asked how I 'got in' with so many 'famous writers' who I'd been talking to and I said "we made friends before anyone knew who we were decades ago by striking up interesting conversations and enjoying each other's company" and he kept re-asking the question.
I was in first-year university, living away from home for the first time, when these women were murdered at school because of their gender. I will always remember. Je me souviens.
