Ukraine blows up Russian data centres and immediately and mysteriously online talk about Germany’s Far Right AfD virtually disappears. Stop Putin you stop the Far Right.

Today marks the public launch of the Ubisoft Workers of Montreal (UWM) campaign, with a first action: a petition to preserve hybrid work. Every Ubisoft Montreal employee is invited to sign the petition and every supporter encouraged to reach out to their network to encourage them to sign!

There must be a viral marketing campaign for H*rry P*tter because platforms keep recommending me HP content even though I've repeatedly expressed disinterest. They're usually anti-JKR but IDGAF about those either because I've already picked a side. Just... let me ignore HP in peace, please.

Traveling at the height of post-9/11 restrictions, I had my art supplies with me and had forgotten to leave this thing (compass?) at home. Silently cursing myself when TSA opened the case and held it in their hands. They confiscated my water bottle and put the metal stabbing device back in the bag.

pros of watching zelda direct hours after everyone else: i get to fast forward through the padding cons of watching zelda direct hours after everyone else: you've already seen two dozen 'nintendo hired this man!' jokes before i got to make one

"Why wasn't this piece of art more explicit with its messaging" cause it would have sucked ass Bob. Telling people the truth isn't as effective as making them experience it. That's why it's art and not an essay.

Hello, Bluesky!! Today it’s my birthday! 💖🥳 I’m very happy and feel like a princess! 💖 Here is some colourful art to mark the day, would appreciate any repost but I appreciate you if you don’t repost too!! 🥰❤️❤️❤️

Not to be That Person™ (which I am, always) but Ship of Theseus is not a particularly Japanese concept. I wonder whether the incident even happened as Adams describes it or if presenting it as a mystical "oriental" philosophy seemed like a more interesting anecdote.

The idea that it kills you is also a very western way of thinking about it. In Japanese philosophies, the question probably doesn't even make sense.

"I remembered once, in Japan, having been to see the Gold Pavilion Temple in Kyoto and being mildly surprised at quite how well it had weathered the passage of time since it was first built in the fourteenth century. I was told it hadn’t weathered well at all, and had in fact been burnt to the ground twice in this century. “So it isn’t the original building?” I had asked my Japanese guide.
“But yes, of course it is,” he insisted, rather surprised at my question.
    “But it’s burnt down?”
    “Yes.”
    “Twice.”
    “Many times.”
    “And rebuilt.”
“Of course. It is an important and historic building.”
    “With completely new materials.”
“But of course. It was burnt down.”
“So how can it be the same building?”
“It is always the same building.”
I had to admit to myself that this was in fact a perfectly rational point of view, it merely started from an unexpected premise. The idea of the building, the intention of it, its design, are all immutable and are the essence of the building. The intention of the original builders is what survives. The wood of which the design is constructed decays and is replaced when necessary. To be overly concerned with the original materials, which are merely sentimental souvenirs of the past, is to fail to see the living building itself.

Very interesting. Especially the bit about "thinking in tweets". I've sort of distanced myself from social media because I don't think I have what it takes to be "cool" on here. The desire to belong is strong, but the further we disappear into meme-talk, the more we lose our real voices.

Really interesting piece about disinformation. X is not changing what we think, but it is distorting our perspective of what other people think. open.substack.com/pub/johnganz...

I don't know why we, as a society, decided to bring back pop-ups but I want whoever is responsible to know that I am *less* inclined to join your newsletter when you slam the Join ad in my face rather than a discreet suggestion at the bottom or middle of every article.
