UK Government Won’t Release Files on Israeli Firm ‘Meddling’ in Election

The British government has refused to release any files about alleged meddling by an Israeli firm in elections in Scotland earlier this year.

Mark Carney and liberals shouldn't be allowed to march at Pride rallies as long as they're making deals with politicians actively trying to exterminate trans people. If that wasn't bad enough the deals are for pipelines destroying the earth and trampling on Indigenous rights

Mark Carney just appointed the architect of this, Malcom Lavoie to the Federal Bench. Don’t say you were not warned. #polcan #cdnpoli Cc: @queermomentum.ca @wearequeeraf.com @xtramagazine.com @pinknews.bsky.social @thedarcymichael.bsky.social calgary.citynews.ca/2025/09/18/a...

Streeting says the UK is providing military assistance to Saudi Arabia because Houthis are attacking civilian targets there Israel has been attacking civilian targets in Gaza for 3yrs & not only are you not providing Palestinians with military assistance, you're arming Israel!

These movements tried to compromise and work with the status quo to some extent and were rewarded with worse conditions for the movements they started. MeToo should’ve had a paramilitary wing and defund the police should’ve been a litmus test for politicians. Instead we have gone backwards

Bad + Bitchy Podcast@badandbitchy.com · yesterday

For those centrists and moderates who want to say the show of negativity turns off people their movement, don’t listen to them. These are ppl who said MeToo went too far and defunding the police was a joke. Now we have Cornell and ICE. These movements don’t go far enough

Obviously it isn’t good that there’s this level of totally overt hatred and racism in public life, but look: this is what it was with Labour and Corbyn in the 2010s. It’s what it is now. They’re just racist wingnuts, it really is not much more complicated.

You know those ‘spot the difference’ puzzles? I’m thinking of launching a ‘spot every racism in this political cartoon’ alternative….

I reanalyzed the CDC data behind the LGB “free fall” headline. It rests on a change in bisexual identification among one grade, in one wave, of one survey. Gay or lesbian identification did not change significantly. Calling it a "free fall" is sensational and just gives bad actors talking points.

Six small line charts showing the percent of U.S. high school students choosing each sexual identity response option by grade (9th to 12th), 2015 to 2025, with 95% confidence intervals. Heterosexual falls from about 85 to 90 percent before 2021 to about 73 percent in 2021 and 2023, then rises to about 78 to 80 percent in 2025. Gay or lesbian stays between about 2 and 5 percent throughout. Bisexual rises to about 12 percent in 2021 in every grade, then among 9th graders falls to about 7 percent in 2025, its 2019 level, while other grades stay near 10 percent. “Some other way,” added in 2021, falls from about 4 percent to about 2.5 percent. “Not sure” stays near 3 to 5 percent. A dotted line marks 2021, when CDC changed the response options.

Young teenagers are less likely to identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual than a few years ago, according to a new analysis. “It really does look like a free fall,” Jean Twenge, a professor of psychology, said. “But what’s causing it is unclear.”

its feels like a mass psychosis where tech leaders continue to insist you can be cruel, mean, and hurt the feelings of lines of code

This is something I've been saying for ages re: how centrists treat the left. If left-wing positions aren't popular enough to win elections, then left-wing voters can't lose an election for you. If left-wing voters can tip an election for you, their positions need to be accommodated.

...Assumption #4 has been driving me batshit, yet no one seems to realize it: if you're worried trans ppl might potentially harm your Dem candidate's chances, then YOUR CANDIDATE MADE A BAD DECISION! so why not join us in trying to get them to reverse position? juliaserano.medium.com/on-democrats...

Assumption #4: The elephant in the room that no one is talking about
There is a striking disconnect between Talarico, Turek, et al. — who have clearly made a political calculation that abandoning trans rights will help them more than it will hurt them in this election — and the many cisgender liberals I’ve encountered online who are absolutely freaking out over the possibility that trans people’s critiques and protests will ultimately tank said candidates.
Both of these things cannot simultaneously be true!
If you think your favorite candidate enacted the correct political strategy, then there is no reason to berate trans people for protesting it, as those protests should already be baked into your candidate’s calculations. So why are you berating trans people then? (Unless, of course, you enjoy berating trans people just for the sake of it.)
Alternatively, if you think trans people *are* capable of tanking your favorite candidate via our criticisms and protests, doesn’t that imply that your candidate (and their consultants and strategists) totally fucked up in their political calculations here? And if they did fuck up, shouldn’t you be reaching out and complaining to *them* (rather than berating trans people), in the hope that they might reverse their bad decision?

For non-Brits wondering why our politicians and press always behave like this: any future substantially left wing government would likely be open to - say - considering arrest warrants for politicians found to have materially assisted particular war crimes.

Sam Altman said people are just gonna have to die in order to implement AI. In the very same week, Anthropic claimed it’s a human rights violation to be mean to the computer. These people need to be held accountable. They think lines of code are a person with rights but living people are debris.

The Verge@theverge.com · 4d ago

Over the past year, Anthropic has repeatedly flirted with the idea that its AI models could be conscious in some way. In February, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said on a podcast, “We don’t know if the models are conscious.”

I assume this is a bombshell because a real person who matters has said it, because it was absolutely crystal clear at the time that he didn’t give a fuck and the IDF were implementing the programme of destruction and mass slaughter they had been itching to put into practice for many years.

In bombshell interview, the man who served as Netanyahu's military secretary on October 7, 2023 says that the Israeli pm passed up clear-cut opportunities to bring more hostages home from Gaza alive because doing so would have risked his political career!

Devolution has allowed us to make choices like free university tuition, free bus travel for young people, and support for families through the Scottish Child Payment. We deserve a Parliament whose powers are respected, not treated as something for UK politicians to play with.

The National. We deserve a Parliament with powers respected by the UK. This week’s Tory conference has shown the very real threat that hangs over our parliament.
