I just can’t believe we’re seeing this sort of stuff from a sitting MP Just want to say to British Somalis that you are loved and I’m so, sorry this is happening.

Just crossed the terminal: Microsoft disclosures suggest that OpenAI is about 70% of AI sales! If only someone had said something
Analysts estimate that 70%+ of Microsoft, Google and Amazon's present and future AI revenues are from Anthropic and OpenAI's compute spend and model sales. Outside of two unsustainable AI labs, demand barely exists, and they've massively overbuilt capacity. www.wheresyoured.at/the-ai-deman...

This is such an great feature (Rebecca is great!), and I've been thinking about it for a few days. IMO, "Influencer" in the ten-years-ago sense was really a LOT of jobs (spokesmodel/copywriter/etc.) but now it's morphing, at least in part, into "intentionally annoying person" which feels worse.
The Influencer Recession
Once upon a time, lifestyle influencers could post cute photos and make millions. Now they are forced to pivot.

This is by some distance the best Odyssey or Nolan interview I’ve seen. Great on the Why and Why Not, the choices/mistakes theorising, and presenting anything in a Homeric moral setting to any non-Homeric audience.
Fantastic Nolan interview by a Chinese PhD student who asks all the best questions, and receives all the best answers about his interpretation of the Odyssey youtu.be/wa4I8Ch2TRo?...

BIG PLOT TWIST in TX: Tarrant County's GOP officials, faced with intense public outrage about huge cuts to the battleground county's polling locations in November, have decided to delay their final vote on the plan so more polling places can be added
They're probably hoping you won't hear about this. But tomorrow in TX, Tarrant County officials meet to vote on a GOP plan to cut almost HALF of Election Day voting locations, plus 8 early voting locations, some of them on campuses. Not hard to guess why. fortworthreport.org/2026/07/30/t...
I would like to propose the Taco Bell Principle When a person/institution Did A Problem, & IMMEDIATELY fesses up & takes proactive steps to solve it That's exactly what we want them to do? So how bout we let them live ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
A quick word on Taco Bell: That's where we found the suspected lettuce, and it's not bc Taco Bell is gross. It's bc Taco Bell is REALLY GOOD at tracing product! Keeping track of exactly where they got their ingredients, & exactly what restaurants each shipment of ingredients went to!
I think the question has to be "what are you trying to conserve?" to which the answer remains the same: privilege, power, and inequality. Historically, that meant supporting institutions and heel-dragging when it came to equality and redistribution. What's changed is that institutions now...
You are also, fundamentally, just *not* the Conservative Party any more. You're just a new party wearing its clothes. Yes, the tory party evolves over time but...evolution not revolution, and all that.

Last chance to respond to this consultation - it closes today! Annoyingly they haven't put the exact closing time on it, but the cut-off is usually 11:59pm on the day
Self-employed people! Sorry to put a downer on your Sunday, but in case you'd not seen, the Government wants us to pay our tax *monthly* like we're employees or something With the World Cup and all the politics, I'd missed the consultation they put out last month, which is here: 1/

Just as I don't want to read a book by someone who couldn't be bothered to write it, I *definitely* don't want to eat food by someone who doesn't want me to see that food in actual photo form. You're advertising a product that does not and cannot exist in corporeal reality. WTF.

The state of this. A lovely day out for Badenoch and Philp, playing dress up and making pronouncements about early release schemes - having left the country with one hundred available men's prison places, after fourteen years in charge. You read that right. One hundred places.

Can't think of a thing that will radicalize a generation faster than "you've gotta let that old man in the corner over there see what's inside those pants before you play Kindergarten volleyball."
An initiative on the ballot in Washington state in November would require all athletes seeking to play girl's sports from kindergarten to high school to undergo "genetic screening, a testosterone-levels test, or an examination of their reproductive anatomy" before they can play
we talked about this more at the time but initially a lot of the ppl who died were in big blue cities and were not white. this is not incidental to the revisionist and eugenicist nonsense we hear now.
this boils down to "the pandemic didn't actually happen but they still closed the applebees" which frankly i think is a trauma response by a lot of people that buy it - lot easier to be in denial that things were that bad instead of reckoning with 1.3m dead people [in this country]
This supposed 'deal' doesn't prevent payouts to violent insurrectionists in the future. It doesn't prevent the admin from bringing the slush fund back from the dead next week or using DOJ’s Judgment Fund for the same illicit purpose.
