(also, GOP constantly uses antisemitic and racist dogwhistles against *all* Democratic candidates, because it is a white Christian nationalist party which compulsively frames its opposition as racially other.)

It seems clear to me that BlueSky T&S chose to implement an automated algorithm to take down / suspend accounts that get heavily (for given values of “heavily”) reported, pending human review (“when the mods are awake”) — on the premise that normally, such accounts are legitimately violating an AUP.

On Reddit in the late 2010's, the transphobes were - in fact - winning. They had successfully subverted Reddit's "zero knowledge / agency" Sitewide Rules Enforcement mechanisms† to get volunteer moderators who wouldn't Play Ball with them - including out transgender people - permanently suspended

All of these behaviours are an effort to drive individuals & communities off of using the service; "You cannot have safe community here". And once a T&S department allows one to be harassed away, the harassers have infinite license; they effectively own the platform.

The past few years, half of what I've dealt with on Reddit has been the (continued) presence of Republican Culture War Malignant Moaning / Community Interference groups Despite overwhelming evidence of bad faith & sitewide rules / Moderator Code of Conduct violations, Reddit won't boot them

If it is allowed, BlueSky is over. This kind of behaviour was attempted on platform @ 2024; it was rejected then by the T&S enforcement

If you are running a public space, you have two options. You can say that harassment, especially based on innate characteristics, is out of bounds, or you can allow it. Everything else stems from this choice. If you choose a), you will have a space where racial and sexual minorities feel safe

Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."

Anybody at @moderation.bsky.app want to try to explain why they suspended @matthewcort.land, ANOTHER of the most prominent people out here fighting for disabled and marginalized people? Like… are y'all planning to suspend/ban literally every disabled legal scholar/policy worker out here, orrrr…?

anyway, if you're looking for Matthew Cortland, you should sub to their patreon since they're a disabled lawyer evidently getting deplatformed from places.
