Looking for an academic job during the end times... Research: discrimination inequality race quant methods experiments I post about: Atlanta, academia, social science, research methods, transit, urban stuff, NBA, MLB, pinball www.stevenmichaelgaddis.com

A man in academia: He's amazing! He doesn't disrespect me, allows me to suggest my own ideas & even got me an unpaid internship. A woman in ac: She advocated so I'd get pay for internship, supported my mental health & gave me a kidney. But her 'hello' was cold. She might be a bitch, I don't know.

""It's really hard to fathom that the guy making my pizza for 25 years is a gangster and a terrorist, and the person who shows up in an unmarked car wearing a mask and body armor comes to take him away is somehow the good guy," said Simon..." www.wnep.com/article/news...

Well now we know why Uber + Waymo is a sponsor. They paid $25K to be sponsors. This is why we need to get corporate money out of the non-profit industrial complex. At least our concerns are being heard by the local media. @threadatl.bsky.social

This month's car-free Streets Alive will be sponsored by Uber + Waymo, to the dismay of many festival supporters. I found out more about the unlikely partnership: www.ajc.com/news/2025/06...

Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.

Lots of people are in crisis. Many of us have lost our jobs. Others been reduced to half time. The rest fear what’s coming. Education evaluation positions have been entirely eliminated at some firms. The world for thousands is radically different than it was even 3 months ago. So, yeah, this tracks.

One in twenty marta riders gave up riding on the subway in the past year, after giving it a try as COVID-19 restrictions eased up. That is a horrifying outlier compared to the rest of the nation and firmly puts Atlanta in the "transit death spiral" category.
