Aeroflot has become the anchor customer for the MS-21 aircraft, announced Industry and Trade Minister Anton Alikhanov. He stated that the airline has ordered 18 of these aircraft and plans to order another 90. "Concurrent negotiations are underway with a number of other airlines, but these deliveries will be made after 2030, as Aeroflot will, of course, be the anchor customer," Mr. Alikhanov told reporters at the Eastern Economic Forum. He added that the new aircraft will be particularly in demand on relatively short flights with high passenger volumes. The MS-21 is a medium-range, narrow-body passenger aircraft, fully equipped with Russian-made systems. Anton Alikhanov noted that the MS-21 is approximately halfway through its flight test program. Aeroflot expects to receive 108 aircraft by 2030.
