I have just posted an article on a prototype of Whizz. There are quite a few differences from the final version of the game. This prototype is courtesy of drx at @hiddenpalace.org, and is the last of the prototypes that he sent to me for release earlier this year. snescentral.com/review.php?i...
SNES Central: Whizz
This prototype appears to be in an advanced state, but lacks things found in the final version of the game.

Here's a pre-visualisation video for SNES Maximum Carnage, created by animator Alan Moult ( Software Creations ). He made this video for the game programmers to demostrate how the animations were supposed to work in the game. Thank you to Alan for keeping hold of the video and allowing me to share.
Jon Batiste has a discussion with Nobuo Uematsu about composing music for games and the making of the Final Fantasy VII soundtrack. Very fun! www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIyc...

People tell me that it's OK to keep reposting old artwork and that you can never do too much promotion. Piffle, I say. Folks are sick enough of me as it is yet here I am again on #portfolioday selling my soul so I can afford to buy booze for t'baby.

Unreleased SFC game called...Mr. Cockatrice?? Full chicken themed puzzle game we missed out on. Would have been late 1995 or early 1996. Developer: Visit (Shinri Game series, bunch of Uranai games, SFC Appleseed, etc)
I’m so sorry for everyone at id Software affected by these layoffs. I know what it feels like to leave id while id goes on. It’s a strange and painful thing to step away from a place that holds so much of your work, friendships and history. 1/5
I just posted an article on the unreleased SNES game, Tom vs Jerry: The Chase is On! The graphics for this are amazing, but ultimately the publisher, Hi Tech Entertainment, went out of business before it came out. I found some box art! snescentral.com/article.php?...

I'm doing prepwork for the 2026 snesdev game jam. I want to make a small game in C. To hedge my bets I'm going to be using 4 different C compilers. To help motivate me, I'm restarting my SNESdev daily log.

one of my favorite things to learn about Yoshi's Island was that some of the most impressive effects in the game weren't even done with the Super FX, they were just HDMA trickery. like Salvo the Slime is made of numerous stacked lines pulled from a triangular background image

After two years of research I made public a database of fighting games that are playable in some form on Windows 100% manually made in 90's HTML code that looks like shit on mobile. There's a lot of work left but I hope it will be helpful for some people hanagumi.denpa.cl/fightingdb/

I’ve got one of the most awesome birthday presents I’ve ever received from @sd2snes.de last week. Even though it says Made by Krikkz on the label, this FX PAK PRO was hand-assembled by ikari_01 and has a special dedication to our deceased friend Near with a golden Higan logo printed on the back.
Now here is something crazy, four unreleased games on a single advertisement page! Poor Hi Tech, you did not have enough time.
I recall a time when the number of "Megs" a game had was a big deal. 24 Megs is only 3 MB! It seems quaint with some games being well over 100 GB now a days.
I am looking through some old EGMs, and I noted that Mortal Kombat 3 made the cover in February, March, April, May, August, September and October 1995. It was like it was the only game that mattered that year! Considering the era, you have to wonder if there was a sponsorship deal.

ROM HACK RELEASE: Soul Blazer Relocalization 1.0 A project I worked on and (mostly) off over the past 8 years, this is a hack of the Enix cult classic Soul Blazer, a semi-prequel to Illusion of Gaia & Terranigma. This fixes typos and cleans up text to make it less grody. romhack.ing/database/con...
