This WAS a tough kitten season. Please donate, if you can... I know times are hard, but we cannot forget about the littlest, most vulnerable creatures among us. This rescue is local to me, and they do great work. Every little bit helps. #cats #rescue #animals #adoptdontshop

It’s been another expensive kitten season and I know we are all struggling, but if you have even a few extra bucks to help us save our girl, please send them our way. linktr.ee/crits4cats

if you think about it, winning via a direct connection to the divine father of all creation through His appointed emissary on Earth is a much more egregious cheating scandal than banging on trash cans

The first team in MLB history to make the postseason after even two consecutive 100-loss seasons (they had 3) just won a postseason series These White Sox, what a story!

Then you’re too young to be on Bluesky Point Break, all of us watched Futurama Season 1 as it first aired

I have a Big Ask from our community. Many of you will remember our graduates Pikachu and Eevee, who were adopted together. Eevee had dealt with some very challenging chronic diarrhea while she was a kitten, but before adoption, we figured out a food that worked for her & she was all better (thread)

This is gonna sound like a shitpost but the next words here are completely genuine: reading Swan Boy as it comes out feels like it must’ve felt watching Golden Age Simpsons during its original airing.

New Horizons is now *three days away* from shutting off its two heliophysics instruments, simply because NASA has not provided the $2M in funding it had promised to the mission last year or this year. There is no science basis for shutting these off. Our earlier coverage:

Kind of surprised no one’s made modern VCRs for retro enthusiasts. There are plenty of audio cassette players still being made (yes, quality is questionable I know), I would have thought some company/Kickstarter would’ve done a modern VHS tape deck… or Beta or Umatic. An archivist can dream…

The art of photoplay and capturing game screenshots in the 80s. Game mags had various ways of taking screenshot, from hooded cones to block light to early hardware capture devices. Sometimes though, you just had to have a friend hold up the TV at *just* the right angle. 📖: Your Sinclair, Dec '87

…Are you kidding me? This country's treatment of voice actors is fucking abysmal. Aqua Teen Hunger Force essentially built Adult Swim, & if there were any justice, Carey Means shouldn't have to work another day in his life. Between this & Andy Merrill's trouble, i just… what the fuck. What the fuck.

Bailey was an outdoor/colony cat before we adopted her (she has a tipped ear) and has shown ZERO interest in ever going back outside. In fact, things like heavy rain and dog barks coming from outside have spooked her.

"indoor cats are miserable and they long for the outdoors and you are depriving them of their true nature by trapping them inside" okay here's my cat when he was outdoors vs now that's he's indoors

Thinking of the old lady outside Citizens Bank last night who was asked “Do you think there could still be a Red October” and she replied “If there is, they don’t deserve it”

All my Phillies fan friends are so mad their team won the game to hold onto their spot in the postseason, what a beautiful city of normal people.

Occasionally I remember my jazz musician college roommate telling me he wanted to start a fusion band that only played music from the video game Plok, and the band’s name would be “Plok Plok, Fizz Fizz, Oh What a Relief Plok Is” and man, I feel like we could have really had something special

There's a moment early on that's just footage of Elon Musk balding and in khakis walking down an office hallway in the late 90s and the entire audience burst out laughing. If Musk is made aware of audience reactions like this I think he might actually crash out.
