I love technology. I started with an IBM8088 that had a 20MB hard drive (cutting edge at the time). I've spent much of my life working with or for technology. The Internet introduced me to my husband and many adult friends all over the globe. I'm beginning to wonder if the cost was worth it.
I object to the coffee scale. Drinking coffee black does not mean it is "strong" coffee, nor does putting extra cream in it make it "weak".

The thing about BlueSky is that, without an algorithm to abuse, there is very little the parent corporation CAN do to change things / push content. They can introduce new things, but it's up to users if they want to engage with it or not. There's not much they can do to change that now.

anecdotally, everyone I know who has managed to get an ADHD diagnosis - all of whom have had to scrape the money together to go privately because the waiting list is 18 years or some shit - have found the diagnosis and the meds generally life-changing. huge improvements in quality of life

we are talking about covid because their base is pissed and telling pollsters they won’t show up and the racism dial is already turned as far as it can go but they think maybe there’s a little blood to be squeezed still from the fauci stone. that’s it. that’s the only reason we are doing this.
I think the pandemic broke us as a society. The selfishness and hostility from the deniers and anti mask/vaxxers laid bare, like nothing before, just how shitty some people truly are. I’m not sure it can be forgiven or forgotten.
During COVID, medical workers filled latex gloves with warm water so the dying could feel like their hands were being held by another person as they died alone in hospitals pushed to the brink of collapse. People who downplay the horrors of the pandemic to focus on its inconveniences are fools.
