Stuck in VRChat. I post VRChat exploration photos, personal musings, random gaming videos and I guess kinda just everything. Game Modder and Gameplay/Level Designer. Independent Contractor. Liker of Computer Games. Nerd.

Boomer shooter is kind of a weird term in that people try to retroactively fit old shooters into the term as well, even though imo it's a very different genre from old shooters with very different feel and gameplay. At this point I think I prefer old shooters more than what "boomer shooter" became.

it’s worth underlining that the amount which a modern live game is not this is directly the result of devs fighting inch by inch, for months if not years, against the guy at every corporation who demands an explanation for why you aren’t doing this at all times

No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads

After 5 months, I have finished my Morrowind playthrough. After 23+ years, I finally could do it. Bounced off many times, now it stuck. Modded too, with many amazing custom stories! Included as an image my recommendations for the best quests I played, I know many part of big modpacks too!

Includes unfinished/unreleased parts of Project Tamriel and Tamriel Rebuilt, not recommended.

The rest of Tamriel is a heightmap mod with autogenerated random trees and rocks and villages.Don't mind the still active 42 quests, many of them are just bugged to not marked finished lolBildNot included are many QoL mods, tho tried to keep to vanilla visuals and vanilla friendly gameplay mods (so not changing the combat, also included expansion rebalances and slower leveling)

Someone just reblogged this on tumblr with this tag and I just fucking died I've been on this shit for over a decade and it's only getting worse

written about this before but whatever.

Videogames as an artform have a problem with nostalgia. Not that people shouldn’t have nostalgia. Or that games shouldn’t draw from the past. But instead the weight we give to nostalgia.

When people go back to enjoy old games, we assume it’s a nostalgia thing. Do people assume that with books? Or movies? Or music? People certainly do go back in time with those mediums for nostalgia! It happens! I know when my sister is listening to certain cheesy old boyband pop or punk she’s often having a musical nostalgia trip! That’s cool! But we still don’t ASSUME, CONSTANTLY thats why people go back to stuff.

People like old stuff because it’s cool and interesting. It’s historic. People go watch Metropolis still, but how many people alive could even be nostalgic for a movie like that?

I almost want to see the word Nostalgia excised from discussions about video games – not because nostalgia is bad but because we over use it to the point where it’s actually harmful I think.

I mean I made IWBTG and am making an NES style game right now and even for me, the obsession with ‘nostalgia’ seems crazy.

Old stuff is cool. I know this because I see a lot of you kids on my tumblr feed talking about games I know you didn’t grow up with. It’s like finding your parents record or CD collection. Thinking the primary greatness of old games is bringing back memories of eating cereal and playing games on a saturday morning is a great injustice, even if those memories for some are perfectly worthwhile things.

#this post is 11 years old and still holds true

WHAT DO YOU MEAN I JUST GOT BOTH CHARACTERS AND ONE SIGNATURE WEAPON JUST FROM 70 PULLS AS A F2P PLAYER??? WHAT LUCK IS THIS??? I'm gonna be afraid for the rest of my life, I've used up all my remaining luck in fucking Genshin Impact.

Still waiting for my dream WoW version, World of Warcraft: Forever Ever After which is just Retail WoW where you need to go thtough all the expansions and story and raids and dungeons in a linear order while it got no endgame and also its actually a singleplayer RPG in the veins of Elder Scrolls.

I know the japanese term for "Metroidvania" is "search-action game", but what if we called them "mazerunners". 2D mazerunner platformer. First person mazerunner shooter. Third person mazerunner action RPG (to replace "soulslikes" too). Etc.

Stalker 2 2.0 is out time to read what ppl think about it so I can get the urge to stab myself in the balls as reaction to an utterly clueless and proud community believing rose tinted myths about the og games complain how Stalker 2 is still not as good as a modpack made by 2000 people in 20 years

So is like the counter on the Ecco The Dolphin site still counting down to something because I swear it was supposed to end somewhere these days and I think it reset again.

It's that time of the year again where I praise the visuals of Genshin Impact, because despite everything, they still look like as if concept art recreated perfectly.

Truly tragic what happened to Terraria Calamity. Really hope at least the final version will be preserved as it is, with no content removed from it, especially not its music.

Looking at like Project Tamriel Rebuilt stuff. Project Cyrodill and Skyrim is getting an expansion soon. Oh High Rock and Hammerfell projects doing good. Nothing on the rest yet. Sister projects, one recreating some islands, nice; another the realms of Oblivion, sure. And one recreating THE MOONS???

Wasn't that one guy from Bethesda like "go back and play Morrowind and see if you want that remade" and here I am, technically playing it for the first time for reals, 100 hours in. And this is still Tamriel Rebuilt, which is og game but 5x the size. I've yet to start the actual Main Story!

My journey through the province of Morrowind, especially the parts built in Tamriel Rebuilt continues. Man. I so have a bone to pick with Todd, who watched Lord of the Rings and decided to turn Elder Scrolls into the most generic fantasy with Oblivion onward. This shit is so cool and different!

After trying for 24 years since it was new, I finally got into The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind. I guess my taste finally aligns after trying to get into TES games through my life. I blame me getting into Stalker games and mods, made me love the "running around for 1 hours then have 2 minutes combat".
