Hey everyone, Quick note from me. Starting in August (my birthday month, so a fitting time for a reset), I'm taking a break through the end of the year to focus on myself for a while. Time to take my own advice, rest up, and refill the creative well.
As with basically every other ongoing crisis its perfectly fine if you want to change your habits to improve your impact! but the vast majority of resources are being used by a small handful of corporations, not individual consumers 👍
Role playing. I have two types of goblin that I pretend to be and that helps me get past the task initiation dysfunction. Trash Goblin takes garbage out as tribute to Lord Oscar. And then Word Goblin gets words down when I’m unmotivated.

Nominate their work for community awards or recognition when opportunities arise. "Have you seen what @ Creator is doing? Their stuff deserves more attention." Sometimes creators need someone else to put them forward.

Seeing every small business, be it a local restaurant, a moving company, whatever, all having AI logos and AI ads, really puts into perspective just how many artists are out of jobs now. All those little sustaining jobs where someone just needed a quick thing for $50 to $200 are just gone.

The centrality of discernment to productive AI usage is obvious, and that's why I find the insistence that AI can be used as a teaching assistant (or worse, a *teacher*) so baffling. By definition, a student *isn't* an expert on the subject they're studying. 44/
4️⃣This cultural push is bigger than the TTRPG space, obviously, but makes itself known in exactly which projects are getting funded. which people are being brought back into prominence, and which people are being pushed out of the space by floundering budgets, and ignorant gatekeepers.

Predictive data has been a thing for years in specific targeted areas. It's the broadstroke application that's eradicating humans and water that I take offense at.

The most powerful phrase in the TTRPG community isn't "look at me", it's "look at them." Use your platform to point people toward creators doing amazing work. Be a connector, not just a content creator.
Gonna be real: it's deeply shitty to aggressively demand that artists who worked on a large project guarantee to you that nobody who touched the project used AI. They can't know that and they're not responsible for that. They can only know things within the scope of their own job.
Your rough draft is someone else's inspiration. Your "not good enough" project might spark an idea in another creator. Sharing imperfect work moves the whole community forward. Perfection is the enemy of progress.
Stop apologizing for posting about what you love. "Sorry for another TTRPG post but..." No. Own it. Your passion is why people follow you. Apologizing for it weakens your message and confuses your audience.
"Trans people require lifelong medical care" Everyone requires lifelong medical care you fucking dipshit
Replace "Sorry for another post about..." with "Here's another cool thing about..." See how that changes the energy? You're not bothering people you're sharing discoveries. Own that role as a guide to cool stuff.
