This is really important. Academic editors don’t have to let cruelty go through to authors. Which doesn’t mean limiting genuine informed criticism. But most of the stories you hear about horrible peer reviews should have been stopped.
Brandy Schillace@bschillace.brandyschillace.com · 2y agoMany years ago a reviewer who rejected my paper wrote: “where correct, she was derivative. Where original, she was just stupid.” As an editor, I have forbidden any such comments to be sent to authors. Criticism never needs to be mean!
I'm sorry, but if the billionaire wants a security perimeter greater than 500 yards at his own damn property, then he can pay for it. He was never in any danger and it is not the obligation of taxpayers to protect a private golf club from reputational damage due to GOP gun policies.
