A big piece of financial advice I’d give to anyone looking to get into VO or just starting out: Even if you signed the contract. Even if you’ve already recorded. Even if you were told payment is usually fast. Do NOT assume you will be paid until the check clears or the direct deposit hits.

GOOGLE DOCS USES AI THAT TRAINS ON ANYTHING YOU WRITE IN IT, EVEN IF ITS A “PRIVATE” DOCUMENT. It’s now possible for users to get Google Docs’ AI to share information that is otherwise not publicly accessible, if it was written in Google Docs at some point. You CANNOT trust it w/ confidential info
Normalize telling convention staff each and every time we find a vendor selling AI anything. Make it clear it bothers you and that it’s considered art theft. Either more cons will learn to cut the rot out & foster a better creative space for our communities, or we learn which cons can’t be trusted.
Dev Voix 🏳️⚧️@devonvoixvo.bsky.social · 2w agoI've been actively calling out people using AI in public, and just embarrassing them. "Oh you used AI for your banner? Man, I guess if you're that cheap with that, your products must be cheap too huh?"
It's silently costing people friends and other connections, too. If I see that you are posting or reposting gen AI content I'm unlikely to say anything but I will immediately lose interest in striking up any kind of conversation, friendship, or working relationship. And I know I'm not the only one.
