In the same manifesto, Palantir's owners argued that we need a national military draft, that soft power is over, and that we were too hard on Germany and Japan after World War II. I don't think that company should be allowed to exist anymore.

there is a lot of intimidation in rural Ireland we don't talk about when it comes to politics. when the far right were on the move in Tipp, me and so many people I know got hit with abuse and threats, online and off, followed around when we were outside, etc. I know someone whose car was burnt out

Chatting with the homestead. Seems people felt afraid NOT to participate in the blockades for fear of being targeted, whether in a low-key “why weren’t you there?” way or family getting doxxed way. This is all very schoolyard bully but on a more sinister level. AKA, quite Trumpian.

We have an Iranian friend in Tehran who has devoted his career to translating Thoreau for an Iranian readership. Starting with 'Walden,' through Thoreau's anti-slavery works and essays on civil disobedience, the lot. We have not heard anything from him since the bombardment began.

You have more in common with the people of Iran than you do with anyone in this administration, any member of the technocracy, anyone who is profiting from this war, or any billionaire. When you see Iranians forming human chains outside key infrastructure sites, you should feel a sense of kinship.

Somewhere Naomi Klein sighs heavily, resets a “days since last incident” sign back to zero, writes “MOON” on a post it note and underlines it twice

because there was no organisation or planning, just a call to action that spread on social media that groups and individuals answered on an ad hoc basis. it's a barely coordinated parade of incoherent grievance

Ireland's two busiest roads - Dublin to Limerick and Dub-Cork have been fully closed for most of today. Some ppl have been trapped in cars for hours. It was all supposed to end at 11am. This is crazy

I've been working on this piece for a few months, and I won't lie it's hurt to go from hearing the suffering inflicted by this transphobic theocracy to seeing progressives sing its praises. The bishops' ban is the most extensive trans healthcare ban in the country. It deserves way more attention.

Crossing state borders for HRT. Insurance denials. Missed surgeries. U.S. Catholic bishops imposed a ban on all trans healthcare throughout the church's massive networks. That's left working class trans people struggling even more. Our latest, by @davidforbes.bsky.social are some of their stories:

My next Big Interview for @wired.com is out, and the timing couldn’t be better: In the days before Arm was set to launch its own chip (!) I had the chance to grill Arm CEO Rene Haas on what this CPU means for the chip market, and for the future of Arm www.wired.com/story/arms-c...

Arm’s CEO Insists the Market Needs His New CPU. It Could Piss Everyone Off

Arm just confirmed the rumors: It’s producing its own chip for the first time. CEO Rene Haas explains why this won’t alienate the many chipmakers who license the company’s designs.

Q: The president just said on Truth Social it would be a 'big mistake' for UK to hold over control of Diego Garcia, but the State Dept said the US supports that handover LEAVITT: The post should be taken as administration policy. When you see it on TS, you know it's directly from President Trump.

Karoline Leavitt took questions for more than a half hour today and not a single one of them was about Trump's role in the ongoing Epstein coverup

Crucial - and generally totally overlooked part of this story - is *what* the journalists that Labour Together smeared were reporting on How Labour Together used £730k in illegal political donations to boot strap Keir Starmer’s political rise That’s why they were targeted

Peter Geoghegan@petergeoghegan.bsky.social · 8mo ago
