We’re hearing testimony on the Moda term sheet today. I have filed an amendment that seeks to do two broad things: 1. empower the Joint Authority to limit expenditure public funds in the public interest with transparency and accountability 2. Reduce City’s commitment from $400M -> $120MM

the testimony about how we need public money to go into private hands so then the private sector can give to philanthropic organizations / non-profits was actually the clearest explanation of the rot of neoliberalism I've ever heard. The government should just fund public services & employ people.

NBC is calling the Michigan Senate primary for Abdul El-Sayed as the projected winner with 685,600 votes and 89.7% of expected votes in and a 2% lead over Haley Stevens’ 657,905 votes. Mallory McMorrow finishes in a distant third with 55,878 votes.

An Israeli court has temporarily blocked a plan, cooked up by far right minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, to construct a moat full of crocodiles around a notoriously abusive prison that holds Palestinians, over concerns that the crocodiles would be harmed or mistreated.

Abdul El Sayed's open-mindedness on the question of how to actually resolve the question of Palestine is one of the best indicators of his overall intelligence and sincerity. Policymakers in DC should adopt a rights-based approach which prioritizes ending the occupation and apartheid systems.

Senators Lieber and Rob Wagner who sponsored and championed this bill gave up all of the public's leverage before negotiations even began, roping in the Mayor (who does not have the authority to make promises without council) and County Chair (who does not have the authority without the full board)
