just got an email from my (former) chair that the university has acted & the state has approved the formal closure of my department. this was done without any faculty input on the decision or the process, & has ended a vibrant, growing (!), humanities department that won teaching and research awards

Ohioans deserve leaders who exercise good judgment and who put integrity first. Which is why I find it appalling that Vivek Ramaswamy accepted over $10,000 from Andrew Havas, a man who served jail time following allegations of sexual misconduct involving a minor.
These kinds of laws have an invisible ripple effect across the country. A good number of corporations will just change their policies instead of making a NYC-specific protocol. A lot of the consumer protections we have started in one state or big city.
