mario has 5 "sensor pixels" used for physics... his feet pixels check for solid ground to land on, of course. the side pixels check for walls, and eject him outward. the head pixel checks for bonking against a ceiling. if his head misses a block but his side enters it, he gets nudged sideways

I was asked about a small breakdown for the 3D anime ramen and realized my breakdown thread was on the cursed site from which I deleted my account 😅 So I'm gonna post a small 🧵 here

In the 2 years since I quit Rockstar, me and my friends have shipped an indie game (Void Sols), released a demo (Mouseward), and are putting the finishing touches on our hobby project (Planet Jellham) Really puts into perspective how mismanaged AAA games are, things don't have to be this painful.

To celebrate the rerelease I'm going to post some videos from early development! This is the earliest recorded footage with just the controls / movement idea for mobile

POINPY IS BACK! 🎉 And now it's FREE! No ads, no paid unlocks, just the full game. There's a tip option if you feel like it 😉 Available NOW on iOS and Android!

I used to give workshops on art & animation fundamentals at a university, but the workshop that students actually found the most useful by far was one where I taught people how to set small, actionable goals so they could decide on a direction they wanted to go in and improve on their own. [1/9]

Ok ok I know Xbox sucks but I gotta gush for a second BLINX THE CAT RERELEASE?? I might just need to buy a copy. I probably never mentioned this story but I actually consulted a lawyer once to see if I could buy the Blinx IP. He said no.

Okay, actual footage. Tons more anims for Ant Mech too. A Stage Entry, 2 types of jumps, landings, a walk cycle, and other unimplemented stuff like dashing, running, air attacks, etc. Also reimplemented the Blender shaders and threw together a test environment. CC @mechanicalblue.bsky.social

If I haven't told you recently, you're doing a good job. You're surviving in a world that at best doesn't care, and at worst wants to squeeze you dry and dispose of the husk. You're trying your best and being kind to others. You're inproving day by day, and finding moments for joy where you can.

Okay, big new plan. I'm gonna take this Beat 'em Up framework and make a game with it. What game? Well, every year I do the Swordtember art challenge. Over the years I've made, like, at least 80 sword models and 60 fully rigged characters. So I'm going to take those and make a Swordtember game.

"I'll just pull together a fully fledged beat 'em up framework from scratch so I can show off these animations, that shouldn't be too hard!" - me, a fool, 4 days ago
