As usual, @doctorow.pluralistic.net is the tech oracle of the modern era. People whose jobs were “replaced” by AI got fucked, the companies who put all their chips on AI are entering the FO phase of FAFO, and everyone with a 401k is about to get fucked. Yay. pluralistic.net/2026/07/24/s...

When the AI bubble bursts, the defective chatbots that replaced skilled workers will disappear with it, leaving us scrambling to get that work done after the workers who understood it have retrained, retired, or exited the workforce. AI is the asbestos we're shoveling into the walls of our civilization and our descendants will be digging it out for generations:

It would be the funniest thing ever if the people of Clacton actually elected a man dressed as a garbage can. If a city in Connecticut can dedicate its wastewater treatment plant to John Oliver, you can also give the world something great. Go for the choice that’s less full of rubbish than Farage.
