I use em-dashes, lists of three, and am a big fan of comparatives. Always have been. I write differently now than I did a decade ago, but that’s a shift in voice, maturity, and REFINEMENT of techniques I always used. Gatekeeping ourselves as writers does nothing but keep stories from being shared.

Over the weekend, after feedback and multiple revision passes, I finished what I consider the final version of “The Rainbow That Came After”. This is a novelette about mortality, time, the people that help us move through life, and what happens when we let the light through.

Thinking about what “home” means this morning, for no reason other than having woke up with two old favorite poems in my head that mention places from my childhood in passing.
Probably it's my still-feverish sick brain but I'm fixated on something In Game of Thrones the North's slogan becomes "The North Remembers" right??? So.... the North of Westeros is basically Pepperidge Farms.
I have an unpublished sci-fi story about where this type of thing leads.

Long ago, someone told me a group of hybrid human-animals I’d written about weren’t believable because they could still be happy, even while being othered/used/targeted. I should really start sending that one out again.
