Nothing profound to write – just try to point out reality. Hate Brexit – no time for its proponents. Blighted by OCD. Prone to sarcasm. If occasional profanity offends, you're in the wrong place.

Europeans bemoan their economic problems & the weakness of their defences; but standing up to a Russia is matter of understanding Russia's weaknesses & Europe's strengths, & learning from Ukraine how to exploit Russia's vulnerabilities. My new piece for @centreeuropeanref.bsky.social has some ideas.

Who’s afraid of the big bad bear? Europe’s resources are much greater than Russia’s, if Europeans are ready to use them to defend themselves. 🇷🇺 🇪🇺 New @centreeuropeanref.bsky.social policy brief by @cerianbond.bsky.social Read here: buff.ly/q40Cahl

Hey British gov sites. Glad you came to terms with the Russian influence in the Brexit vote. Now get the hell off X, which is equally designed to destabilize & groom viewers to act against their own interests. 🇬🇧 Gov sites (that includes the BBC,) should NOT BE ON X. @ukparliament.parliament.uk

While people are talking X, let me talk about X OFF. Two big ideas: 1. Get everyone possible off of X, especially for the news (at least) until every vote is counted 2. Tell your elected reps and candidates to stop sending people there and go X last (at least)

Listening to a report on LBC News re #SemiBadenough calling for granting licence for Rosebank field to release 300 million boe (over its lifetime), to lower consumer prices, with daily global demand of ~100 million barrels/day, is as stupid as Trump claiming RU diesel deal will help global demand. 🤦‍♂️

We’ll tell you what’s boring, Farage and the BBC… honking out Reform’s latest anti-asylum seeker bollox, as if it’s workable or wanted, and without any meaningful scrutiny. Yusuf on #r4today like a firehose of fascist idiocy, when this is the ugly truth behind their desperate outburst…

Mirror headline:

Nigel Farage's latest announcement comes as Reform UK continue to struggle with falling poll ratings (O Gary Oakley/PA Wire)
Nigel Farage hits panic button and vows to ban all asylum seekers for five years after Reform poll plunge

Effective immediately, there is a HOUSE CEASFIRE in the War between pigs and Angry Birds. Both parties have agreed. Do not break it! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP.

Exactly. Democracy can’t really thrive when economic power buys disproportionate political power. When ordinary people feel shut out, frustration creates the perfect environment for demagogues to step in and exploit it.

“Tariffs are a favoured diplomatic tool of President Trump and Reform could face significant legal challenges if it follows suit” (page2) Farage is a desperate, vindictive bullshitter who only appeals to racists with no idea how the world and trade and law actually work. Cos that’s a bit hard.

Farage's tariff plan on migrants

Reform UK would impose tariffs on countries that refuse to accept the return of migrants, under plans expected to be announced this week.

Nigel Farage will outline new policies, including levies on goods and services, that would force countries to agree to deportations.

The party also proposes banning their airlines from British airspace.

The escalation of Reform’s hardline deportations policy comes as the Conservatives embrace a new political strategy designed to recapture voters with a focus on the economy.

Some 20,900 people have crossed the Channel in small boats this year, down about 40 per cent on the same period in 2025, according to official figures. Since 2018, more than 211,000 have made the crossing, of whom about 9,700 had been returned by June.

Reform intends to impose visa bans for people who legally want to visit the UK from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Syria, Eritrea, Sudan and Somalia until the countries agree to take back illegal migrants and foreign criminals, under plans announced in February. The list includes several of the countries with the largest numbers of asylum seekers in the UK in recent years.

Employment performance of recent migrants: the 2021-23 cohort continue to perform very well and *better* than non-EU migrants before Brexit. [the 2017-19 cohort will have suffered from the pandemic but that will not affect the later years.]

Employment rates among non-EU-born migrants excluding full-time students rise with years since arrival, reaching 80% after seven years for the 2017–19 cohort, while the 2021–23 cohort has higher employment at comparable durations, reaching 82% after three years.

'Time for Ukraine to get new president,' says Trump after Zelensky condemns diesel deal But let’s face it.. the World doesn’t give a f^ck what the foul, unhinged, epic embarrassment to USA says But what’s truly worrisome is that Russia & USA are now clearly allies vs EU, Canada, Commonwealth etc

'Time for Ukraine to get new president,' says Trump after Zelensky condemns diesel deal

Ukraine's leader had said the deal with Russia to release diesel into the US would help Moscow fund the war.

Ben Meiselas: Donald Trump promised he would end the war in 24 hours after the election in 2024. Of course, he didn't do that. So now he's blaming Zelenskyy for all of his own failures.

What these guys did was bigger than Brexit. They showed how you could produce work of an academic quality and distribute it through the media, to improve the standard of national debate. I wish more organisations would learn from what was accomplished here.

An announcement. There will be plenty of time to reflect on what we've achieved, and on the fantastic colleagues who have helped us achieve it. But for now, sad news ukandeu.ac.uk/announcement... 1/2

Great result for The Conservatives! Labour-Just clung on Greens-Expected to win with their weird leader & failed Reform-Finished Lib Dem-couldn’t get a 1000! Restore-😝 People want to be able to leave £1M tax free for their children that’s why they are now turning to us Tories.🇬🇧
