Interested to hear the story of Stacey on BBC Woman's Hour just now regarding ageism in recruitment. I can confirm it's not just women who are facing this, as a man in his 50s finding it impossible to find paid work after taking time out to care for my late father.

I spent a quid to buy a flac download copy of the John Potoka remix of "Sledgehammer" today. I have the 12" single bought at release 40 years ago & I'd digitised it from the record, but nice to have this bit cleaner copy. My vinyl is good considering the use it has had for all those years, but...

These nasty foam inlays were commonly found in early double jewel case CDs, late 80s, early 90s. I've just started working through my collection to remove and dispose of them. They have all deteriorated, become very fragile and in some cases turned into a nasty powder.

So, I got the Sainsbury's offer of 3 bottles of cider for £6.50... I've had 2 of them, feeling nicely relaxed... but the third is in the fecking fridge & if I don't have it tonight it will sit there leering at me, "one isn't really enough is it Chris?"...

Haven't played this for "a while", just wanted to hear their version of "She Moved Through The Fair" again. Fairport Convention's Ric Sanders features on violin. And speaking of Fairport, I've always loved Sandy Denny's rendition too (from back when Swarb was on fiddle for them of course).

Trying to place a warranty call for my washing machine. This has so far taken 4 calls and just shy of 1 hour, all of them stating that "lines are busier than normal" - ie - understaffed.

Weirdly, "Fugazi" is the only Fish era Marillion album I don't have on vinyl. Possibly my favourite of those 4 studio albums (close with "Straws"), but my sister had it. Something to keep in mind when I visit 2nd hand shops. This remastered CD edition is pretty damned good though.

Love it when I pull out an album I've not played for a while & discover original marketing leaflets enclosed. I've probably not spun this on vinyl since not long after original release because I got it on CD. Marillion, "Clutching At Straws" t-shirt for £7.95 (plus 70p p&p). Bonus, I got 2 leaflets.

A classic for Sunday morning with coffee. Suzanne Vega, "Solitude Standing". I found this copy used for a fiver & sadly it is rather warped, I have to land the stylus a bit into the music at the start of side 2 or it won't track. But what an album! (have ordered a used CD copy).
