Bringer of light, chaos, and imagination. Oh I do science too.

You may write me down in history With your bitter, twisted lies, You may trod me in the very dirt But still, like dust, I'll rise. Maya Angelou

Thou shalt not claim you are fighting fraud when you are the most corrupt leader of a country in the history of the entire world and it’s not close.

"In a conversation led by Molly Webster, Chanda Prescod-Weinstein talks about dark matter, the nature of the universe, and who gets to ask the biggest questions in science. She challenges assumptions about objectivity and identity—making the case that who does science shapes the science we get." 🙌🏽🙌🏽

In my lifetime, I've seen segments of society lose trust in evolutionary biology, climate science, and vaccines. None of this was due to anything scientists did. All of it was because non-scientists perceived some advantage (political, cultural, financial) in attacking science's credibility.

If you are in Anchorage, please go to the Alaska Native Heritage center and check out the boarding school exhibit. For a long time I thought boarding schools didn't affect us, but they did, deeply, and continue to do so today.

Description of the work of Sheldon Jackson, who created the boarding schools in Alaska. "The goal of the plan was to eradicate Alaska Native cultures beginning with the children and removing them from their homelands, to gain access to the natural resources of each region...." Diabolical. So glad there are so many descendants fighting to hold onto and care for our landsThe map of Alaska, covered with circles around regions and religions in the circles. They broke Alaska up into regions and "gave" each region to specific religions. My region is just above the circles, and in Kotzebue we have churches from several religions A letter talking about measurements taken from Inupiaq girls to prove the inferiority of Natives. Absolutely infuriating
