Continuing down the path toward a fully independent phone... what about the actual phone part? 🎬 calling an atproto handle

It's Wednesday and I have officially not had electric service for most of the week. I was working on a way to use atproto records and Hugo's content adapters to further intertwine the two but now I realize that this comes at a very steep cost: constant internet connection while developing.

Starting to use @grain.social more frequently and I really like it but, and I'm not sure why, it seems to not respect my exif metadata at all. . . I added my camera make and model to see if it showed up on the site but it seems all the exif metadata got wiped

"Rena" sent this from Moses Lake WA where she is weeding carrots for a non-union company. She shared: The air is bad. See my cell phone. The AQI is 166, which is unhealthy. We start at 4am. We'll work 7-8 hrs & earn minimum wage. #WeFeedYou

A worker holding up a cell phone in a carrot field they are weeding in Moses Lake WA. The cell phone weather app shows a AQI is 166

If "sanity-checking" is when you confirm that something functions in an expected way, then developers who LLM-generate PRs without checking them are by definition not sane. . .

No shade to this article but is our attention span really so rotted that paragraphs can only be 1 to 2 sentences long?

An article by Euronews describing new legislation that was passed that requires all AI-generated content to be labelled as such. In the article, each paragraph contains 1 sentence.

genuinely curious why I thought that I should practice my calligraphy today fully knowing that most of the country hasn't had water service for the days now

New feature in AgentScan GitHub app: the honeypot comment. This comment is intended to welcome regular users, but it also contains a hidden comment that only AI agents will read. This will prompt them to write a specific custom string that will immediately close the PR and add a label as automations

I keep seeing bsky accounts with linktree/carrd link aggregators. This, to me, indicates a failure in all of the atproto link aggregators that keep on mentioning how they use atproto and not what the benefit of using them over carrd would be.

hard pill to swallow for atproto developers/creators: 99% of potential users either do not care about, value, understand, or want to “own their own data” i see so many apps/projects lead with this “value prop”, but it’s not an important or meaningful consideration for most people

I need a pure and functional C subset where every function starts with the return keyword and no comma operators or mutation

People do care about their data; they happen to not use the same language that tech folks use when they're talking about. And frankly, we as tech folks fucked up by fighting for React and JavaScript everywhere (dev happiness) over privacy and safety (user integrity). It's our fault.

What I like about old movies is that protagonists and villains train for their fights and it is implicitly assumed that the villain is more clever than the protagonist. This seems to no longer be the case. . .
