I'm asking for more pieces from composers and more tech from techies when I review a paper now. Trying to suggest physical changes an AI can't provide. Both are expensive to produce for the researcher. Would not be shocked if AI is pushing up the basic price of doing research as a result?
My quite conservative academic take is that if you can’t build a working model of a system you don’t understand how it works. My follow-up take is that you don’t need to understand how something works to do good research on it.
