Comic store owner in a college town here. The new students buy a mix of modern anime (One Piece, Jujuitsu Kaisen, Hunter x Hunter), Pokemon, Transformers, and old school movie posters like crazy. Army of Darkness, The Thing, and Dark Knight are all very good sellers.

Christopher Schmidt@crschmidt.net · 3w agoIf there’s a truck turning ahead of me, I will slow to a full stop rather than depend on them to have any idea what is to the side of them; but if they come up from behind me while playing on their phone, they can flatten me without even noticing unless nearby pedestrians start yelling at them.

all of these are also stories about how Americans were lovely gracious welcoming hosts — including Americans from the diasporas of other competing countries!! — and gosh I hope that’s never lost when the historians write about this tournament
