The dumbass Govt has finally conceded it can't build an LNG import terminal and its dreams of a revival of fossil gas are dead. NZ wasted 3 years while this Govt delayed the transition off fossil gas, while telling the country a dangerous fossil gas fairy tale. www.greenpeace.org/aotearoa/sto...

Let's pretend for a minute that right-wing discourse is correct and unemployed people are just lazy and could get a job if they just worked harder at it. Since the coalition took power, more and more people have been becoming lazy. The last time this many people were lazy, National were in power...

They probably think this says to centre voters "we've ruled out this Green policy you might think is extreme: you can trust us". But it just as much says "National's right, the Greens are extreme, you can never vote for Labour because the Greens will get in too". www.1news.co.nz/2026/06/23/h...

Hipkins confident he can form coalition with Greens without budging on tax

The Labour leader said his party disagreed with most of what was announced by the Greens in their tax policy.

“Empires rise and fall, but to my knowledge no state has ever deliberately, and systematically, killed its own power – much less with such speed,” writes the historian and expert on fascism Timothy Snyder of the US under Trump.

Timothy Snyder: We are watching the US attempt a superpower suicide

From the abandonment of its alliances to the dismantling of its education system, Trump’s administration is tearing down the institutions that really made America great, writes the historian

Trump is such an unreliable ally that the Gulf States are about to undertake a massive military buildup. And any of them could become a potential long term threat to Israel. Not sure if that's part of Trump's thinking with this, probably not, but Israel might well be keen to get them onside.

In fact the GFC, nearly 20 years ago proved decisively that countries with governments that did austerity fared much worse than those that, you know, helped people and understood that a country isn’t like a household

The mistake people often make is to view the increased frequency and intensity of damaging storms as the “new normal” under climate change. The reality is that it’s going to keep getting worse, even if we stopped all emissions today. How much worse, is still up to us, but it’s going to get nasty.

I want to remind NZ that one reason we were the last to get the covid vaccines is that we are a small country with very low trading influence and power. If you think we're going to be anywhere near the front of the line for the 80% of fuel left in the world, think again.

The NZ Govt just spent the last two years introducing policies to make NZ more dependent on fossil fuels, and proudly overturning policies that were reducing our dependence on fossil fuels. Now they have some Mickey Mouse national fuel plan. What a joke.

Watching Luxon claiming credit for interest rates being lower than a few years ago - yeah, like everywhere else you egg. If he wants to claim credit for something stand out about our economy over the last few years, he could talk about our go-it-alone recession. Envy of the world.

There’s soo many things to drag this govt on I can’t believe they are still around tbh: -Cost of living: like they did nothing -Tax cuts: no one has seen them -Childcare rebate: ditto -THE FERRIES WTF -Pay equity -Unemployment -Voter suppression -Climate crisis inaction: EV, Solar etc Epic fail.

Countries that have adopted electric vehicles the fastest will suffer the least from oil price spikes caused by the US/Israel attack on Iran. NZ is not one of those, thanks to Luxon’s poor leadership.

Even if it works now - and I'm not saying it does - AI is explicitly and loudly destroying the things that makes it feasible, and nobody is even looking one move ahead here. When the snake eats itself, it doesn't grow and eat endlessly. It just fucking dies.

The covid emergency clearly demonstrated one inescapable fact: Labour is better at planning for the future. The Superannuation Investment Fund and Kiwisaver is more evidence that Labour plans for the future whilst National offers tax cuts for short term electoral self-benefit. Until NZers... (3)

So I read in some article that folks are adding deliberate typos to their writing in order to dispel suspicions that they’re getting machines to speak for them. That’s coward shit. I say just use the word “fuck” more. In the face of enshittification, commence the enfuckening.
