When I was a kid I had a black monk’s habit for some reason. Halloween, of course, but like … this was heavy-duty costuming. Anyway, one of my favorite things to do at Halloween was to wear it with the hood up and silently walk around my neighborhood. Not trick-or-treating. Just walking.

I want this almost as much as I want people to have to experience films of the later Dune books.
Politics is fun because it's like THE FORCES OF SOCIETY and TEST OF THE ZEITGEIST and then it's a one percent margin that could have broken differently if the role of Haley Stevens was played by someone not cast for "weird and off-putting intensity" who raves about Israel coming to her in her dreams
Convinced Kaoly Her is going ahead with this encampment sweep this morning despite almost everyone in the know telling her to delay because she thinks she’d otherwise appear politically weak. It’s awful of the mayor to put vulnerable people at greater risk just to try and save her political career.

This is 💯 not true. It is never a choice between ‘taking big tech’s money and doing nothing’. A stronger moral imperative is NOT to take the money and the strings attached to it - particularly if you do not and cannot yet understand the implications

There are some very neat tech things these days. If I were a kid, I think I’d use one of these to print out different Jack Skellington-esque heads and use a frame-by-frame app to make my own stop motion film.
Dumb Megan@dmbmeg.bsky.social · 9h agoWe got our printer for $800 at Best Buy. The PLA filaments are $15-$30 each. Considering how expensive toys are, this is a great option to inflation proof your kids toys. That little toy I made while in bed last night probably would be $20 at target.
One of my best friends is from Kalamazoo and always points to her hand when she tells people where she’s from. I saw this stranger at a bar in Texas and asked her if she was from Kalamazoo. She was like yes, how did you know that? I said I saw her tattoo.
