Mike Stabile@mikestabile.bsky.social · 2d agoThe SCREEN Act is not just another age-verification bill — it goes much further than anything passed at the state-level or in other countries. 1. The bill doesn't just target porn sites. It goes after *any* site that allows material "harmful" to minors. You'd have to scan your face to use Google.
It will be worse than this! Most websites will be forced to ask you to send your ID to a third party surveillance service, adding a credit card won't be enough for most. Bluesky asks for your *social security number* if you live in Texas now, due to this shit. Call in, and kill it.

This is the end result of "there are no sfw kinks" logic. Everything is a kink for someone. It doesn't matter how tame or innocuous it is; someone, somewhere, gets off to it. Amd there is no level of "toning it down" that will ever be acceptable to people whose goal is for you to not exist at all.

So apparently some Hollywood reject is trying to trademark the most common word in the fandom: fursona. This impacts every furry and more importantly fursuit makers because they're trying to trademark it under Class 25 (Clothing / Robes) which includes costumes and subsequently fursuits.

Its difficult to put my my anger over this into words. The modern Backrooms was born from the collective effort of thousands. That collaboration, all that passion/time was freely given because it made people happy. Now its being monetized. Its exactly like Ai and the internet.
