I’m late to the party but this is such a cool paper. Most mosses have several archegonia that each make an egg, but typically only one forms a sporophyte even though it seems like multiple eggs could be fertilized. This points to a possible mechanism to suppress the growth of all but one offspring

For this new OMB rule I had mostly been thinking of "grants" in the science and arts sense but as OMB defines it I gather also includes a lot of what until now has been considered routine transportation, education, and healthcare transfers to to state and local government.
