I will never know when he gave me the shot, but I will always remember what he responded. "My work is to ensure people are healthy, but health without happiness isn't worth much. Playing games makes people happy, doesn't it? Why don't we collaborate? I'll keep people healthy, you keep them happy."

there should be more heist stories that are explicitly about extremely violent lesbians. my contribution would be something like - a team of lesbians plan to steal the hard drives of a megacorp and sell the information contained within to a rival corp, but in the process they've got to fight a PMC.

This makes me so angry - because this translates to "I too would like to make a lot of money" But let's be real. You would not have published Balatro. You want a lightning strike- fund 20 games. Fund 30 games. Fund so many damn games that maybe you find the right field to be struck by lightning.

Publisher bizdev people at events like GDC and Dice trying to sign "the next balatro" should realize that, statistically, the developer of "the next Balatro" you need to be talking to isn't at GDC or Dice talking to bizdev guys seeking 2m+ in funding

The desexualisation of media (everyone is beautiful, and no one is horny) combined with an increasing hysteria around the 'pointlessness' of sex scenes is a key part of the fascistization of western culture and if we're going to fight back we're going to need to make it normal to be horny again.

So many of my friends and colleagues are permanently leaving the industry. The ones who are still in it are looking for a way out. No one is starting up their own indie stuff either, they're all just pivoting to office jobs.

Institutional knowledge wiped out. And no one's going to want to pay them what they're worth, at least not in bulk. This generation of layoffs will cause permanent pivots away from gamedev.

If I really dig into my empathy, I can kinda see the thinking here. Like, let's say you don't actually know much about games. You're in a big office with a bunch of other execs who also don't know much about games. What are they all saying? "Live games do big numbers!" "Action games are hot!"

EA has learned all the wrong lessons from Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and it's going to be disastrous for the future of Mass Effect 5—if it even has a future

No EA RPG is safe from the publisher's obsession with live service.

Most of the time, bad writing happens because of productions where writers get notes like "Our accountant has a SPREADSHEET where it says BIRDS are "TRENDING". Make sure every episode has at least SEVENTEEN (17) BPM (birds per minute). The TEST AUDIENCE loves BIRDS now."
