This is such a good point about basic computer skills And I keep hearing my students ask me how long it would take me to write what I'd assigned to them, and I wonder if I'd been misunderstanding their question all this time

This shift to computerized state tests was made possible by schools' adoption of one-to-one devices. Which mostly happened with Covid. And yet, we rarely discuss the possibility that computerizing tests--without first teaching computing skills--might've contributed to subsequent test score declines.

The next time you consider making a flier with AI, please also consider that the most intriguing ad I’ve seen this week is a garage sale sign made of particle board with spray painted writing that reads, “GOOD SHIT —>”

There’s also something to how women are socialized to be suspicious of flattery — it’s how we transfer responsibility for men’s desire onto women’s bodies; we are taught to defend against that in service to our “innocence” or whatever — whereas men accept flattery as their due. Perfect marks.
