Fascinating change in BBC news bulletins about Reform. Farage announcement on small boats only gets the third spot and is balanced by critics saying he's trying to distract from allegations over his finances. Quite the change from the uncritical coverage earlier this year.

We should all be pleased to see Burnham moving forward with the Starmer govt's plans for defence & local devolution. But plagiarism doesn't inspire confidence in an open, honest govt.

I'm up at 6.30am to write up an Andy Burnham interview the BBC did last week and have been teasing in segments, refusing to release under embargo. This it the first interview with a new PM. I don't object to it going to the BBC but treating it like some sort of celebrity exclusive feels a bit weird.

The reason there are people still supporting Starmer is because we reflect the opinion of many in here, & are dismayed that the most effective govt we've had in years couldn't get behind its democratically elected PM. This Burnham coup was devious & undemocratic. Not Labour's finest moment.

Burnham plans to give England's 14 regional and metro mayors a share of income tax revenue to spend on their cities. Unclear whether this will need legislation, or whether 'equalisation measures' will be needed to prevent poorer regions from losing out.

Are we allowed to say that this isn't necessarily the right place to start "growth throughout the whole UK". Fun for Manchester though. 🤷‍♀️

And what happens when the next PM wants to set up government in their home city, it's performative nonsense. Absolutely move some government departments around the country where possible but the heart of most governments around the world is in the capital city for sensible reasons.
