Having watched a lot of TV from the 70’s and 80’s, I can say with certainty that people cared WAY more about General Custer then. Every other show has a General Custer joke. Before cat videos were the universal language of our culture, it was “LOL General Custer way to blow it idiot.”

If you see this, quote with the energy you bring to Bluesky. (H/T @retro-commercials.bsky.social)

Took a bunch of notes on a concept for a remixed version of an existing game show for Zoom today; which essentially has now satisfied my creative brain enough to never work on it again. Ah well! Weird how often I have gotten a creative idea completely out of my system by doing 1% of the work.

The announcement of VtM: 6 is another reminder for me of how out of touch I am becoming with Vampire, having played last when the books were still green marble. My understanding of it is that much further removed from the current state. Ironic, since generation gaps are a major theme of the game.

I finally watched the 1995 Gumby movie (by way of RiffTrax). As nonsensical and strange as that movie is, I have to give them credit for closely preserving a 60’s aesthetic in the mid 90’s. Other than a couple of small tells, it definitely had “demake” vibes. Gumby walked so Darkplace could run.

When I worked for an incubator a startup at CES tried to pitch us on an “enhanced water” drink they called H2O II. I pretended not to be delighted when I informed them that most stores already sell an H2O2 product, it’s in the First Aid aisle in opaque brown bottles beside the rubbing alcohol.

“You Make Me” is probably my favorite song from that album, and hit the exact tone I appreciated most as a 12 year old Weird Al fan…no real subtlety to the lyrics, just a list of increasingly silly phrases with a good beat. As an adult, I appreciate the Oingo Boingo of it all on a different level.

When I'm with you I don't know whether I should study neurosurgery or go to see the Care Bears movie

I love Trivia Murder Party, and willl enthusiastically play every one that comes out (and look forward to it). That said, I’m kinda bummed that it seems to have replaced You Don’t Know Jack entirely. I get it, probably more of an audience for TMP, but I miss Jack’s whole vibe.

It makes me pretty happy that years later, Press Your Luck is still coming back with new episodes every summer. It’s the one show that figured out how to put one foot on either side of the dividing line between “hourlong big money shiny floor show” and “classic comfort food you don’t mess with.”

UNFORTUNATELY TRASH NIGHT'S JUILY CYBERSTREAM HAS TO BE POST PONED. THIS IS BECAUSE OF HOW ALL OF OUR VCRS GOT THROWN INTO THE SWAMP AGAIN. MYSTERIOUSLY. SOMETHING WHICH SURELY JUST HAPPENS AND NOBODY CAN BE BLAMED FOR. LIKE THE TIDES OF THE SEA SORRY I GOT TO TAKE A LAP AND WALK IT OFF IM STEAMED

YEA THE MESSAGE IS IN THE REGULAR POST BUT HERE YOU HAVE A PIECE OF VISUAL EVIDENCE (NOT FAKED) REVEALING JUST A SLIVER OR PORTION OF THE ENSWAMPED GEAR WHICH WOULD TRADITIONALLY BE EMPLOYED IN SHOWING A MOVIE TO A COMPUTER. SWAMP MUCK IN ALL THOSE LITTLE GEARS AND EVERYTHING. SO SICK OF THIS

Oldest daughter’s first Weird Al show tonight. What started as “this is for old people but I’ll go anyway” turned into smiles, then laughs, then, big laughs, then cheers. Especially as she started to recognize and remember songs I used to play for her when she was very little. An amazing experience.

Mason: “I’VE HAD ENOUGH, I’M GOING TO KILL HIM!” Ian: “Hey, hey, we can’t do that! We can’t do that! Aubrey’ll break that up…” Mason: “I HAVE TIL 5, REF!” Aubrey: “But you don’t have to kill him!” Mason: “IF I KILL HIM, THEN I WIN!” Aubrey: “You also go to jail!” Ian: “YES.” #WatchROH😆
