The AOC MAHA reaction is weird to me. It seems very clear that many MAHA people (not the influencers/politicians/grifters but their audiences) are people who are reacting to very real failures of society and saying "you're right x is fucked. We're gonna fix it." Is better than just feeding em to rfk
Not an AOC fangirl by any means but I see people criticizing her for this and I gotta say if you don't see the (legitimate) concerns behind the (illegitimate) MAHA "movement" as, at the very least, a political opportunity, you are being willfully obtuse or blinded by privilege or maybe both

I meet with MAHA activists because a lot of their concerns are bipartisan issues that major corporations paint as partisan. The fight isn't left and right, it's top and bottom.

this is a funny post because many economists are interested in synthesizing micro and macro economic trends and the comic it is in reference to is about using macroeconomics to dismiss the micro and anecdotal experiences of economy - a thing many economists think is bad to do!

Surely the Odyssey will prove that consensus on twitter actually means nothing and is in fact usually an indicator that the opposite is what will happen! No? People will keep treating it as a good indicator of The Public? Well ... maybe next time!
A thing that's neat is liberals online yelling about how liberals were the force behind x or y huge social change and then you look it up and every time the liberal establishment is hugely resistant until the activists their mad at reach a critical mass. I think it's cool how this happens.

The son of the man shot and killed by ICE: I am Ronaldo Salgado, the oldest son of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo. He should've been picking up the last of his guys before heading to finish up construction. Unbeknownst to all of us, my dad had been shot inside his van by ICE agents in unmarked cars.
