maybe 250,000 NDP voters didn't stay home but were still trapped under the bus where David Eby threw them.
The simplest explanation for the early election seemed to be that David Eby saw his chance to carve out a larger majority against a weakened opposition, and took it — consequences be damned. Stewart Prest writes. thetyee.ca/Analysis/202...
Tonight David Eby is going to resign, and then hand the province over to a group dedicated to screwing over First Nations. So seriously, f*ck him, his ego and greed for doing this, and wasting all our time for the next 4 years, fighting them.
Now that polls are closed... What on earth was Dave Eby thinking when he asked Green voters to vote NDP to keep out Cons? You want them? You offer them an incentive beyond fearmongering. You could have been courting them all along with good policy. And lose that condescension to Emily Lowan.
As the latest projections appear the only thing I will predict is that Dave Eby will go down in ignominy
The BC Conservatives, an absolute mess of a party full of racists and nuts, might get a commanding majority with 44% of the vote. This will be entirely on the BC NDP and Eby. Entirely. It'll be their fault for not getting rid of FPTP, and for calling an unnecessary election out of pure selfishness.

It’s extremely tiresome to have people who weren’t even born when I first started covering elections in the 70s explain vote-splitting to me. The upside is that I get to explain the decline of the NDP since its Dave Barrett heyday—which I’m sure is just as tiresome to them. Be brave. Vote Green 💚

Have you advocated for proportional representation? Because anyone making vote splitting arguments, which are only relevant only in First Past the Post, needs to get on the Pro Rep bandwagon and pressure the NDP to stop thwarting electoral reform the way it did in its deliberately opaque referendum
Let me get this straight: 1. Dave Eby calls a snap election to reduce the power of the BC Greens to call a non-confidence vote. 2. Then he begs Green voters to vote NDP—on top of his many right-wing policies & his destruction of our chance at Pro Rep. Wow. ctvnews.ca/vancouver/ar... #bcpoli

If you haven't read it yet, this post by @harshawalia.bsky.social is excellent. "I am finding the general fear-mongering to whip an uncritical BC NDP vote extremely aggravating to witness." facebook.com/harsha.walia...
Pete Fry, what a night! 🌿 Vancouver chose a mayor who’ll fight for renters, affordable homes, and a city that works for the people who keep it running. Congrats to you and all the progressives who took council by storm!
Good-bye bitcoin and swagger, new mayor Pete Fry talking about support for Vancouver’s homeless people—daytime shelters and toilets—on the CBC brought a tear to my eye this morning
Vancouver is a left wing/Green blowout - not even close - Ken Sim and ABC got slammed And this is a huge boost to Emily Lowan and BC Greens in the provincial election True upset #Vancouver #VANpoli #BCpoli
Mission Accomplished Congratulations to Pete Fry, COPE, and the Vancouver Green Party 🎉
As the new Nobel Laureate in Literature Anne Carson says: “If prose is a house, poetry is a man on fire running quite fast through it.” Which is why we need more poetry everywhere—including on the buses

Many congratulations to Anne Carson for the well-deserved Nobel Prize! This is also great news for Translation, Classics, Poetry, the breaking of generic and disciplinary boundaries, and the fact that you don't have to fit a pre-existing mould to have a brilliant, successful career.
