Our PhD student Kennedy Orwa, who studies applications of AI to health care, was hastily deported today to Kenya along with his 13-year-old son without opportunity to speak to legal counsel. King 5 reports that he held a valid visa that was rescinded without explanation.

I hate the framing of “Ms Rachel has found a new cause—“ because no she hasn’t. Advocating for children kidnapped and locked up by ICE is not incompatible with her advocacy of children in Palestine. You just want to make her advocacy sound frivolous and fleeting. She’s being consistent.

Every scientific manuscript is secretly 3 docs in a trenchcoat 1) back&forth w/editors & rev's that max ~6 ppl ever see 2) paper w/all the stuff u think every1 wants to know 3) supplementals w/all the stuff u had to do JIC but know will bore every1 but the real ones tbh most ppl just see abstract 😅

So far the war on Iran has cost $9.4 billion. That's $1 billion per day. $41,666,667 per hour. $11,574 per second. Thousands of lives lost. People don't want this. They want a living wage. They want healthcare. They want to be able to afford a home. They want their basic needs met.

This was an amazing project to be a part of - learning happens SO VERY FAST that it really surprised me... and learning is related to prior knowledge in unexpected ways.
