Don't really think Ireland as a whole deserves a pat on the back for the work of some artists, activists, and the people who pressure and protest, when our government watered down the OTB, the GAA refuses to drop Israeli weapon insurer Allianz, and the FAI is happy to play Israel without Irish fans

As someone in Northern Ireland, it's been sitting uncomfortably the amount of lefties saying Britain has never gone fascist before when most of you have no clue what they did here. Give it different names if you want.

‘It’s the best feeling’: how Copenhagen gave cyclists a green wave. “Traffic lights are synchronised so a rush-hour cyclist at 20km/h can catch green lights all the way.” If you want people to choose not to drive, make the non-driving trip better & easier for them. It’s as simple as that, really.

In 1965, an American scholar bought her first stolen god from two boys outside a Kathmandu temple. Grains of rice were still stuck to it — offerings from worshippers. She paid less than $2 and wrote in her diary: "I don't think the temple will miss it at all." 🧵 www.himalmag.com/mary-slusser...

The amount of Amazon workers relying on SNAP and Medicaid has nearly tripled since 2020. — while Amazon’s annual profits soared by over 550%. It’s the same story everywhere: corporate profits are at record highs, while workers’ share of the economy is at a record low. We must unrig the system.

As of Cabinet yesterday, one now needs the ability to communicate in order to be considered a citizen. Yet in the first three months of 2026, not a single child in ten counties was given a plan on how the State would deliver them with speech and language therapy. This week’s column @thejournal.ie:

Gavan Reilly: Six months by law. 24.3 months in reality. Ireland's disability numbers don't add up

The eye-watering numbers of children waiting for Assessment of Need in this country expose a broken system offering little hope to families.

Israel has destroyed over 800,000 Palestinian olives trees. The olive tree is the heart of the Palestinians and like all greedy Western colonists they must destroy the soul of the indigenous people.. destroy their children, destroy their land, destroy their memories, erase everything.

it's two things, to me: 1) trans rights matter because trans people matter and deserve rights, not just because failing to stand for trans rights is a bellwether for inauthentic progressivism more broadly 2) if you can't be trusted on trans rights you can't be trusted on anything

Even without the ethical and environmental issues, cannot wrap my head around the uncritical use of genAI and the likes of ChatGPT - why would you want to outsource your cognitive ability, your own capacity for thought and reason and creativity? Why are people so unconcerned about losing that?

I cannot describe the brokenness I felt reading this from the Haaretz piece. The hostages were betrayed by everyone; Israeli leaders, the diaspora leaders & their orgs, the entire pro-Israel industrial complex, and by far and away the millions of people who cried "hostages" to support a genocide.

"He told me that in the first stage, they had no problem releasing all civilians without anything in return," Mashharawi recounts. "I swear, those were his exact words: all civilians, without anything in return. They had only one condition: They wanted us to bring in an agreed-upon mediator as quickly as possible, so that negotiations could immediately begin over everything else – the release of soldiers and officers in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, and then the issue of the blockade on Gaza."

And as with Jason Arday, you can see the problem here. Because a handful of gatekeepers decide what is ‘news’ & what isn’t. This is a stunning investigation but if & how it catches fire depends on the follow-up…& Times & Telegraph are embarrassed & implicated. So much now depends on the BBC…
