*36th birthday (released in 1990) But yeah, Solstice rules! One of those childhood "enigma games" that I took the time to finally learn and play through more recently (with hand-drawn maps). Cool to see in-development footage! Also, amazing Japanese box art by Naoyuki Katoh:

Mysterious wizard stands powerfully, ominously, in the center of a surreal, brutalist labyrinth.

Happy 26th birthday to Solstice, the isometric puzzle platformer developed for the NES by Software Creations! How often do you get to see behind the scenes footage from the making of an NES game? More often today, thanks to the Video8 tape included in the Solstice Player's Pak!

Since apparently this isn't making it beyond UK news yet, Rockstar petitioned a British court to section an 18 year old autistic kid under the mental health act for hacking their server and leaking a short GTA 6 clip a couple of years ago. No trial, no term of sentence, just locked up in hospital.

Locking up an autistic kid in a mental hospital for life for leaking a clip of a game is bullshit. Guess I'm never playing a Rockstar game again.

Our campaign for a union at Rockstar continues! Today, we've filed for recognition with @rockstargames.com, asking Rockstar to meet with their workers to agree a deal for good working conditions, fairness and a say at work. We await Rockstar's response. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Visiting Ireland has been such an interesting but mixed experience. People are lovely, the places are beautiful, the food is so diverse... But there are the constant reminders of the deep marks made by colonialism.

New: Researchers have quantified how easy AI search is to manipulate. Just 13 words buried in a random Reddit comment can poison AI search results. They suggest this is not easy to stop: "The way you can attack these systems is so much dumber than you think it is" www.404media.co/it-is-trivia...

It Is Trivially Easy to Use Reddit to Manipulate AI Search, Research Suggests

"We show that a tiny snippet—just 13 words—of retrieved text on a UGC website like Reddit, Wikipedia, Quora, or Facebook can change AI agents to output spam / scam content pretty consistently."
