"Wiggle your cursor to activate Gemini" is so insane I stared at this ad for a solid minute. Like, there's no explanation for this beyond "we desperately need to pad activation stats", right? Wiggle the cursor to activate Gemini?! WIGGLE THE CURSOR?! THE THING I DO FIFTY TIMES A DAY?!

"Meet Googlebook, with Magic Pointer. Simply wiggle your cursor to activate Gemini."

I feel like maybe having a private company control such a high percentage of tech for public schools was a really really bad idea (see: Google search, Google classroom, Google Docs/Sheets/etc, Google Chromebooks, Google Drive, etc etc) www.nytimes.com/2026/11/03/u...

Google Will Turn Off Search for Schools That Reject A.I. (Gift Article)

Google is making it easier to restrict its A.I. tools for students. But schools that block A.I. entirely will lose student access to Google’s search engine.

The best time to cancel Spotify was when they started squeezing middle class musicians out of existence, or when they paid Joe Rogan $250 mil, or when the CEO started funding AI weapons, or when they stopped paying out entirely for any track under 1000 streams. The next best time is now

"Reminder that yall should cancel your Spotify subscriptions, stop using the platform and remove your podcasts and AP shows from it."

Spotify aims to launch AI music remix service early next year

“The product would allow paying subscribers to use AI to create their own versions of popular songs, such as transforming a folk song into a dance track or making one artist appear to cover another’s music.”

In the last few weeks i've been bombarded with emails from people who have minor tech support problems. ChatGPT is telling them to email me, writing their emails, and compiling "evidence packets" after convincing them they have stumbled on a major story: www.404media.co/chatgpt-keep...

ChatGPT Keeps Telling People 404 Media Can Solve Their Tech Support Problems

Because big tech doesn't do customer service, we are being inundated with AI-generated emails begging us for help.

Yet again, the Game UI Database is being scraped to the point that it's getting knocked offline. Even Cloudflare's "I'm under attack" mode isn't working. I just wanted to create a resource for real designers. I'm getting so fucking sick of this.

My book is pretty negative about videogames in general, but I have a lot of great things to say about Hypnospace. It's an amazing piece of art. "Y2K--you let me down," is basically a summary of the book, which is why I used it for the epigraph.

Digitisation is great, but whenever I see people being like “yeah digitise everything, then you don’t need the originals!!” I despair. Even if you’re not interested in material culture, how *wildly* arrogant to think outcomes of digitisation are not as (if not more) vulnerable to decay and loss.
