We're in the era of incompetence & cybercrimes headlined as "unprecedented model capabilities gone rogue." So OpenAI & Anthropic are trying to one up each other with such incompetence because the "press release as a service" performing media & clueless politicians parrot pre IPO CEO talking points.

"[The fossil fuel industry's] plans demand that Ottawa assist them (including w huge financial subsidies) as they squeeze every dollop of bitumen from the ground—no matter how wildly fires rage across the country [...] "Alas, Carney has capitulated to these demands." www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...

Linda McQuaig: Don’t be fooled, Big Oil is calling the shots, not Carney

Big Oil demands Ottawa help them squeeze every dollop of bitumen from the ground — no matter how wildly fires rage across the country and how Trumpishly orange the skies

We still suffer under this delusion that design, and I include all sufficiently novel interventions, is the work of lone geniuses or "individual contributors". Systems of any complexity require the sustained attention and interaction of several-many people to and with each other.

This summer, join the Foldie Fondo, our signature social ride experience. Sunday, July 19, 2026 Meet at the south side of George C. King (Skipping Stone) Bridge in East Village at 8:45 am. Wheels roll at 9 am. 60 kms, rolling at about 15 to 18 kms/h. All types of bikes and their riders welcome.

A row of colourful Brompton Bicycles in self-standing mode and in sunny conditions. Bromptons are partially folded in a grassy area, just outside a cafe situated in a park setting. Riders roll along a pathway through a wooded area, under a bright sun, in single-file formation.

Whenever an engineer says "It's not possible" always remember that what they actually mean is "I don't know how to build that" which sounds different, but means the same thing.

Riding bikes is 10X more important than electric cars for reaching net-zero cities. And that’s just the climate emissions. Doesn’t include the massive public & personal cost difference, the air & noise pollution difference, the massive space difference, etc, etc…Via @theconversation.bsky.social

Cycling is ten times more important than electric cars for reaching net-zero cities

Active travel can help tackle the climate crisis earlier than electric vehicles – even if you swap the car for a bike for just one trip a day.

the CTrain free fare zone is one of the nicest things we have in Calgary. The numbers from the recent survey are pretty clear: people use it, they like it, and they want it to be expanded. City Hall should just listen to what people want.📣

Calgary Transit is coming out strong against the CTrain free fare zone to improve "overall perceptions of safety on transit"—but is obscuring why we got it in the first place. We dug into it. #yyccc

If something is supposed to be a tool, you have to ask a tool for what. If everyone is talking about the experience of using the tool and not the outputs or outcomes, then it's a tool for self…soothing.

I just learned such a great word for our times. An epiphany is sudden true understanding. An *apophany* is a false understanding based on seeing a relationship in data or perception that doesn't actually exist. Pareidolia (seeing faces in things) is a subtype of apophenia.

It's not that difficult or expensive to understand people if you really want to understand them. Many organizations prefer to spend huge amounts of money to keep that confirmation bias high going.
