Teenaged girl out her car window, seeing me lugging a bag and tray of drinks back to the office: You got this, girl!

On vacation at the end of this week and the only plan I have so far is to rewatch REDS and feel things.
Oscar Hammerstein had a terrific 1943, with Oklahoma! opening in March and Carmen Jones opening in December. Finding himself the toast of Broadway again after a long string of failures, he took out a self-deprecating ad in the January 5, 1944 issue of Variety listing his flops. An absolute legend.
Sometimes I'll think I've gotten into something organically and uniquely and then two weeks later, there'll be an article in a major publication that says "Millennial Women Embrace Standing in Dark, Pretending to Be Mushrooms" and it's like, wow, where do ideas even come from.
"Animals in the wild have no residual stool on their anus," I say. I've been asked to fill time at this wedding while the DJ gets set up, but I'm on minute ten and I'm out of cute anecdotes about the bride. "Animals in the wild have no residual stool on their anus." My god, I've said it twice.
Oh my god the dietician who is telling everyone in the White House to only eat steak and sauerkraut doesn't wipe his ass.
I'm helping out with some musical auditions this fall (singing harmonies, turning pages) and will be giving the auditionees the pleasure and challenge of performing with someone who is giving absolutely nothing.
Stop saying "log into a portal." Sounds way too cool for what's happening.
Living on the edge today (treating paint drying times like suggestions for cowards).
Grocery store cashier: Do you need a bag? Me, having not spoken to another person in real life for a week: I don’t know, big doggie :)
Had one drink and stayed up an hour past my bedtime last night and today feel like a dried-out turd being kicked down the sidewalk of life.
It's a long weekend and I have purchased a can of aubergine spray paint to do some questionable DIY, for which I have no facility.
Sheet music from 1850 to 1950, and all day there would be a pianist and singer performing pieces from the archives.
If you could open a small 2-room museum, who or what would you dedicate it to?
I start a small museum devoted to the patent zithers created by the Marxochime Company of New Troy, Michigan. They are both weird and wonderful.

If you don't want to hear the shrill sounds of my screams, don't be a mouse in my garage.
Based on the eagerness and pleasure with which I eat a can of beans, you'd think I must love camping. But that would not be true.
Though some have called the loose Taft biopic THE GANG'S ALL HERE "wildly inaccurate" and "an all-singing, all-swinging sanitization of the Taft presidency, which was famously neither tutti nor frutti," I think it pretty much nails this.
just became aware of William Howard Taft’s 1908 campaign poster
Me: Let me be blunt. Me 10 seconds later: Let me delete me being blunt.
For me the lurch from "Why yes, that Italian Village looks idyllic" to "aw rats, spreadsheets" is a soul-crushing transition on a par with the end of Gilliam's Brazil.
Mixed feelings about the fairytale holiday destination Microsoft selects as my desktop background every morning when I log in to my work computer.
say what you will about AI, always-on voice recording and auto dictation has been a game changer for my workflows. Save post and close app. Yeah Footlong meatball sub on white. No veggies. Don't toast it. Ranch and barbecue sauce. Yeah, ranch and bargecue sauce. More. More. Little more please
I ordered a hot dog from IKEA and the person has only been calling the order numbers for people to pick up but then she called my number and followed with “just a hot dog” and I’m like girl why you gotta blast my business like that
I was hardened off in the tense air between two men yelling at each other about BENJI THE HUNTED, and that's where I'm happy to stay. youtu.be/1lqaa9OSTj0?...

Okay fine: while it’s essentially unstructured and rant-adjacent, Emily Wilson’s review accurately sees what Nolan is doing in the adaptation, she just thinks those goals are dumb and poorly executed. That strikes me as a totally valid critique!
This one is loads of fun in a short timeframe and on a budget.

I love following the Pauline Kael bot because it's a healthy reminder than when it comes to takes driving the public to madness, we have actually entered a rather peaceful era.
