The Blue Jays trading away Kevin Gausman just to trade for Jose Soriano is a perfect indication of how the trade deadline sucks now. Nothing of any value gets moved mid season, prospect returns are worse all around. It legit just feels exactly like how the old Aug waiver trade deadline period felt.

I really think whatever the big move Alex makes, it will involve some sort of salary offset with the contracts of Profar, Kim, or even JJ. I can honestly see a Gausman/Bieber/Hoffman package involving a combo of the 3 and the prospects involved happening.

The same people who spent the last 4 years arguing that Russian expansionism is not a problem, and that Ukraine being invaded was the fault of the West, are now arguing the US must take Greenland by force to stop… Russian expansionism. It is astonishing how dumb their supporters are.
