One of the great joys of my adult life has been realizing that I can just pick up a new skill every so often, take a fun little class in it weekly for a year or two, and simply enjoy meeting people and getting medium proficient and not attempting to become professional in it at all!

The FDA has a map of the salmonella jalapeno cases. Minnesota and Colorado have the most identified (110), though that might just be a product of those local health departments being more diligent as the Trump regime has decimated federal public health infrastructure.

Map showing the U.S. with cases of salmonella in jalapenos. Minnesota and Colorado have 110 each, Illinois has 30, other states appear to be largely in the single digits.

El-Sayed: "I believe our kids have a right to our tax dollars. I'm about 10 min away from schools that look like they did 50 years ago. Our money should be spent here rather than sent in the form of bombs or tanks to foreign govts, particularly when they are doing most heinous things with them ... "

El-Sayed: "Once a government agency like ICE is told it has impunity to do the worst things and violate the highest law of the land, which is the Constitution itself, I don't think you can reform or retrain. I think we need to start from scratch ... I think we need to abolish it."

There may well be active duty troops in the Middle East right now who have family members locked in ICE jails. Congress authorized Military Parole-in-Place specifically to avoid this situation. But the Trump admin has shown little care to families caught in this situation.

"President Donald Trump’s administration has detained dozens of parents and spouses of active-duty U.S. troops as it rolls back immigration protections for military families to pursue its mass deportation agenda." https://bit.ly/4br4M4m

new: Gov. Hochul's office is actively looking into any potential tax fraud revealed through the rollout of NYC's pied-à-terre tax, a spokesperson says. e.g., cases where someone claims to live here most of the time, but doesn't pay NYC taxes, or has their car registered elsewhere

New York City’s business elites are long accustomed to direct access to City Hall, where even Democratic mayors felt the need to court the city’s wealthiest and most influential corporate leaders. That access is getting shredded by Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

Mamdani Is Shunning New York Business Leaders Who Are Used to Calling the Shots

The mayor fired corporate leaders from a city fund’s advisory board in the latest sign that he is changing the way such power brokers access City Hall.

Seeing the Irish president, Catherine Connolly, come to Belfast near everyday if not everyday for the historical moment of Fleadh Cheoil being hosted here for the first time is wholesome - a president walking through the city, watching people play, going to the pub. Presidency is different here.

Whenever one of these freaks goes off on a tangent about their trans conspiracy of the day, the proper response -- from an interviewer or anyone else -- is "well, it seems like you're having some sort of mental breakdown here, so we'll wrap it up"

Royce White is now ranting about "transgender sex dolls" during a forum that is supposed to be about agricultural issues. This guy is a serious Republican in Minnesota who had the party's nomination for a Senate seat two years ago. Insanity.

We must keep fighting to reunify these kids with their families and make sure they have attorneys & child advocates in their corner who can look out for their best interests. The forces of cruelty will not have the last word. (5/5)

The Trump administration has now canceled the contract that provided legal services for unaccompanied immigrant kids. That means thousands of children across the country, including hundreds being held in detention, are losing access to government-provided legal representation. (1/5)

In Bari Weiss' Free Press, Olivia Reingold reported from El-Sayed's watch party that "there were keffiyehs as far as the eye could see ... keffiyehs on heads, keffiyehs as belts, keffiyeh-printed phone cases." Not a single one made it into images from Reuters, a local ABC station, or Detroit News.

And the Republican party LET HIM. Despite his well-known ties to Jeff Epstein, his ex-wife's graphic description of rape in her memoir, and multiple assault allegations, the GOP CHOOSE HIM AS THEIR POTUS NOMINEE. If they rejected having an abuser lead their party, it wouldn't matter if Trump fought.

Max Miller on why he's staying in the race: "When we go back to 2015 and 2016, & people in the media looked at President Trump, & everyone came out with allegations. Dozens of women, dozens of crazy allegations, dozens of nasty criminal misconduct. And you know what he did? He stayed in the fight."
