Deliberately *not explaining* something or stopping part way through is *hard*. But, if you recognise that little change in tone in the other person’s voice, you know it’s stop now or a situation will arise. Meanwhile, still feeling misunderstood. 🤦🏻‍♂️

A nice morning to be up on scaffolding at the back of my house, but it’s starting to warm up now the sun has moved around. Fixing insulation on the back of the kitchen wall before the weather gets colder and wetter.

When Star Trek IV came out (1986), the idea that Scotty tried to talk to a computer (travelling back to 1986 because plot) was like “oh, future techno men and their fancy ways”. Watching the clip again, it looks more like “your funny grandad who doesn’t know how computers work, eh Siri?”.

Sitting in a room on my own and just *clearly* heard a man’s voice go “mmm-hmm” off to my left. Very odd… Checked phone, it’s on silent mode and computer too. No-one outside (and double glazing too). 🤔

When I was a kid, other kids, teachers & other kid's parents identified that I was "weird." But kids are weird & I was maybe just a bit weirder than most. As an adult, a few neurodivergent people suggested to me that I might be neurodivergent or explicitly that I might have ADHD. I laughed it off. 🧵

#ActuallyAutistic folks, I’m looking for *good* recommendations for books about relationships where one parter is autistic. The ones I’ve looked at so far seem to be written by allistic authors and focus on how to cope with your pesky autistic partner. 🤦🏻‍♂️

The joys of realising small things. I just spent an hour writing some python code to brute force the statistics for exploding dice because I thought it would be *complicated* to calculate. Looking at the results, I immediately realised it’s *ridiculously simple* and I should have known.

In early 2023, Cambridge University were delighted to tell the world that Dr Jason Arday had been appointed as a Professor of Sociology of Education, with his post beginning in March that year. Cambridge University shared "Arday has faced many personal challenges – notably being diagnosed, at the age of three, with a form of Autism Spectrum Disorder which meant he was unable to speak until he was 11." This inspiration porn style article posits Jason, a Black, working class, man with 'autism spectrum disorder' as being able to overcome his disability (and presumably his race and ethnicity?) to be able to become a professor.
