Stephen Miller said just the other day that all asylum claims are "fake." A couple deported from the U.S. to Guatemala were gagged, bound, and shot dead. Their 14-month old found crying next to their mother's body. People like Miller don't care though because this is the point: ethnic cleansing.
Overland couple shot dead in Guatemala after local ICE stop led to deportations
The couple’s 14-month-old daughter was found crying beside her mother’s body in a sugarcane field last week, according to Guatemalan authorities and media.

Quintessential Trump: In 2025, Trump axed the program to combat New World Screwworm, stating that they had "saved" $1.5 million a year. In 2026, the Trump announces a $1 billion emergency program to combat the Screwworm outbreak. $1 billion would have funded the old program for 667 years.
big scandal in Atlanta - amid an ongoing housing crisis, the city spent over $100,000 of money FROM the affordable housing trust fund on…consultants. overall, they paid $370k to marketing/comms consultants who didn’t disclose they were being paid by the city! atlpresscollective.com/2026/06/09/a...
Atlanta spent $370K on consultants who promoted mayor's NRI
NRI consultants failed to disclose financial ties and were partially paid through Atlanta’s Affordable Housing Trust Fund.

Curious about the impact of the impact of the Mayor's updated Neighborhood Reinvestment Initiative (NRI) on Atlanta Public Schools? I built a #shinyapp where you can see how changing TAD closures impacts future Atlanta Public School revenue. Check it out here - nickspiva.shinyapps.io/tad_app/.

Pete Hegseth told Congress the Iran War has cost $25 billion. Hegseth lied — the US has spent at least $72 billion. My latest for @popular.info: popular.info/p/the-real-c...
Today marks Nakba Day, an annual day of remembrance to commemorate the expulsion of more than 700,000 Palestinians between 1947 and 1949 during the creation of the State of Israel and the year that followed. Inea is a New Yorker and a Nakba survivor. She shared her story with us.
More absolute, essential truth. And, yes, of course, this regime is incapable of shame or even recognition of their evils but speaking truth is how we call each other into a more sustained and vigorous fight.
Feeling overwhelmed with all of this. LISTEN. Another Louisiana resident (Marshawn is the only name we have) testifies against the state’s racial gerrymander, speaking truth to power up and down the hearing room and predicts how this story will end. Speak your truth, fight and believe.
you don't need a study to know this is bad for kids. that's why school admins have zero excuses for signing these deals

I am unspeakably angry about this turnout gap figure, and it gives insight into the whole ballgame for gutting the VRA. Alito points out that Black turnout exceeded White turnout twice in 5 elections. The argument is garbage 1/x
The Pelicans traded the guy who has closed out the Knicks in back to back playoff games for Jordan Poole lol
This Hawks Knicks game is awesome! Can’t believe we traded away CJ!

Housing is a human right. A lack of housing should never violate your civil rights. But here we are.
Read that again. This Louisiana bill forces homeless people to choose between jail and "treatment"—and if they can't pay for the latter, they will be forced to perform unpaid labor. The historical precedents are clear: convict leasing, Black Codes, debtor's prison.

Trump paid the military during the last shutdown from DOD funds so not clear why he won’t do the same for TSA beyond the desire to create pain.
Rep. Rosa DeLauro, top Dem on the House appropriations panel, says DHS is *choosing* not to pay TSA workers while paying its other employees. She says: 85% of ICE + CBP are being paid 75% of Secret Service 0% of TSA workers "The Department made that decision," DeLauro says on the House floor.

If the people elected to oversee Atlanta Public Schools vote to give property tax growth to Invest Atlanta mere months after voting to close 16 schools they need to meet public outcry and be voted out at the first opportunity.
“The benefit has barely scratched the surface, and you’re asking me to support TADs for another 30 years? I’ll be dead before y’all do what you’re supposed to do.” I've heard this a lot over the past few weeks. A lot to unpack here:
As I've mentioned before the NBA & PA signed a "landmark CBA" in 1983 guaranteeing players 53% of gross revenue starting with the 84-85 season - and they've enjoyed somewhere around 50% ever since. Estimated 2022 W revenue similar to 1984 NBA & going up. So 40 years later why do the women get 20%?
Super excited for the major salary increases in the new W CBA, but I can't help but cringe at seeing the revenue share reported at "nearly 20% across the length of the deal." The PA started negotiations asking for 40% (already significantly lower than NBA players) & got forced down to less than 20?
